that just ruined my day... i was dead set on buying an adrenaline when it came out. i have an explorer right now as my DD and i was going to trade it in on the adrenaline.

ruined my day...

Icefreezen 02-03-2006 12:20 PM

No kidding.....this is a sad day indeed....what is Ford's deal?

Grimmz 02-03-2006 01:11 PM

GT was honestly way to expensive for it's competition, amazing car but seemed like an awsome toy for overly wealthy guyz...

and the Adrenaline seemed cool, but I haven't seen one on the road yet...

the adrenaline thats out right now is the normal v6 no power adder with a somewhat decent high powered stock stereo.

the adrenaline that i was hoping to buy is the all wheel drive terminator powered eaton blown adrenaline that was supposed to come out at the end of 2007 i believe. that was going to be a badass ride. and i was ready to put a down payment on it as soon as i possibly could

04DarkShadowGT 02-03-2006 02:12 PM

The GT was a money loser and it was only supposed to be made for 2 years anyway.

The Adrenaline, while a cool truck is another low volume niche vehicle that doesnt generate much profit on a large scale. Ford needs to stick to producing better high volume cars. They did the right thing imo.

it's not far off from the lightning which did great. how can you say ford did the right thing by not building an awesome truck like the adrenaline? thats like saying they should have never built the cobra. i agree the gt wasnt meant to be long term but i dont agree about the adrenaline.

Not too sure i understand that statement, the Ford GT Embarassed the **** out of cars that ran twice its price tag.

A while back on here i got a list of car and driver 1/4 mile times and hp ratings, the ford GT was the cheapest on the list, beating lambo's ferarri's and porches that ran twice the price tage or more. The only one that kept up with it in speed was the Saleen S7 for 480,000.

I know the new Z06 is right smack on par with it, maybe a little better in some area's, but there really isnt anything out there that can really "spank" the ford gt.

you could spend twice as much and still not get the performance of the Ford GT.

I dunno, im just glad they DID make them, f'in sweet cars right there. there are 3-4 in the area i love, every time i see one i get wood

EDIT: Here is that info on where the FORD GT compares to other supercars.
Here is a list of some Supercars, thier 0-60 times an 1/4mile times.

What can you hang with?

Acura NSX, 0-60 in 4.8, 1/4mi in 13.2s @ 105mph MSRP 90,000
Mercedes Benz, SL55, 0-60 in 4.5s , the 1/4mi in 13 flat @110mph, 490hp. MSRP 118,295
Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, 0-62 in 4.8s, 1/4mi in 12.9s, 520hp MSRP 240 MSRP 235,000
Lamborghini Murcielago, 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, 1/4mile in 12.6 @ 116mph, 572hp, MSRP 283,600
Dodge Viper SRT10, 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, 1/4mile in 12.0 @ 115mph. 500hp MSRP 82.295
Saleen S7, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, 1/4 mile in 11.6 @ 126mph, 550hp, MSRP 409,000
Ford GT, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, 1/4 mile in 11.6 @ 128mph. 550hp MSRP 141,425

0-60 in 3.3 seconds! Are you kidding me. Dude, that's crazy crazy fast. I want to race one of those Acura's.....I've already had an experience with the Mercedes SL55, but none of the rest listed.

No kidding. That was all off of car and driver too, not from the manufacturers. Those were on road tests.

The Z06 is a bad mama jamma, and it can break 200mph (whoopie fuggin doo, as if i ever go 200mph) but can it do the 1/4mile in 11.6? or 0-60 in 3.3?
That is freakin fast.

The only car on the list that did as well in accelleration was the 400k Saleen S7, and it was running 2mph slower at the 1/4 mile with 11.6

Too bad they are discontinuing them, in my mind america's greatest supercar to date.

Jack The Ripper 02-03-2006 04:01 PM

Off Car and Driver on the Z06

Capable of 11.7 seconds and 125 mph in the quarter-mile. Knife-edged reflexes. Raceworthy brakes.

Vs 11.6 at 128. :punk:

AND THE FORD GT FOR TEH WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jjtgiants 02-03-2006 04:04 PM

Damn those are some fast cars. The z06 is a freak!

Yah no kiddin. I'd take the Ford GT over it anyday tho. Thats just cause i cant afford either of em, so i'd preffer the quicker one. :punk:

jjtgiants 02-03-2006 04:17 PM

I few weeks ago I saw a Ford GT going the opposite way on the freeway and I almost crashed cause I was staring at it! ha ha. There is a club where I live called Snakes & Ponies and they have little car shows every now and again...anyway there were a couple of guys there that entered their Ford GT's and one dude had the S7 Saleen. Insane cars man

Thomas 02-03-2006 05:13 PM

i build ford gt's at saleen now...looks like im movin up in the comapany or gettin hacked.

WaterDR 02-04-2006 12:32 AM

Fast cars does not equal profit! Ford is in big trouble and they need to focus on what makes money. The Ford GT was never really intended to make money per se, it was an "ambassador" car. In other words, the car itslef was an advertisement for all of Ford products, BUT, it prolly lost it's shirt.

Look for Ford to can either the Mercury or Lincoln lines in a few years.

foncarelli 02-04-2006 01:59 AM

I am so glad i didnt buy that 330k house. The auto industry sucks, you never know where you stand. Actually, since i have been working here there have been no mandatory layoffs(all voluntary) and plenty of overtime so i cant really complain. Just had to vent..

Ford will get it together.

NoKturnaL 02-04-2006 02:04 AM

Ford is facing the ground right now...

The dealership where I bought my car just closed down. and Mazda is moving in that location...*cries*

NoKturnaL 02-04-2006 02:25 AM

ford needs to come up with some better "Famnily/sedan" cars.
Ford is moslty favored when it come to truck/SUV sales..but all other car types beside mustangs SUCK!!!!

I mean....look at the Ford Five Hundred...that thing is ugly if u ask me..

import sedan > domestic sedans
