So I took the wing off my mustang yesterday and it looks sick without it SO i want to get the holes filled in and painted. Went to my local shop where they do really good work

the guy said its going to be between 500-700$ to fill them in because he has to paint the rear fenders and whole trunk lid to get the paint to match perfectly

what do u guys think about this im not doing it if it cost that much so i might just leave the holes there because it looks realy good

i cant upload pics on the comp but if u want them email me at dirtbike974@aol.com with ur cell number and ill send them to u

i think that sounds like crap, and it might be cheaper to buy a new decklid than have that guy do it...but i don't know. just my .02

500-600 dollars....That must be one of the best damn painters around then. I would have to say that guy noticed you were a kid and is trying to make an extra buck.

stang00 01-20-2006 03:44 PM

yeah i was thiknking maybe 200 anyone know of any shops around the ct or ny area that are good

i dont understand y he has to repaint everything

95bstallion 01-20-2006 03:58 PM

Not everything needs repainted a good painter can match anything. There are paint mixers that match exactly. Then they can buff out the car for everything to match.

What he said ^ ^

I knew somethign that if im correct used bondo and then touch up paint and that sh*t looks brand new.

Thats all a body shop is normally gonna do. For real a painter can just paint where the holes are if there even halfway decent.

5 dollar push pins :loser:

Islander03GT 01-20-2006 05:31 PM

Tell them you don't want the fenders, etc. colormatched.

Remove the decklid, take it to them that way , tell them the paint code, and ask how much.

Filling the holes alone is around a $200 job. Painting the lid (including prep) should be 2-300.

^ they can match the color better if they're looking at the car.... but what do i know... i pay didly for paint :poke:

GREG@94GT 01-20-2006 05:48 PM

bondo it up yer self...
you can buy a nice paint gun (if ya got a good air compressor) for 50 bucks and buy a quart of paint...
a paint touch up like that is really easy if you are confident w/ yer self...

you can def get it done much cheaper... yer gonna have to pull the yellow book on this one and take a few rides... Good Luck!

Why dont you drive around until you find a v6 person with the same color and ask them if they want a spoiler. Just swap it in the parking lot right there.

MattJ 01-20-2006 06:13 PM

Get yourself some some touchup paint and some pushpins.

stang00 01-20-2006 07:00 PM

custom color might be a problem with touch up paint

i have atlantic blue with a special metal flake to it

theres no reason to paint the fenders to, he's just trying to get extra money. My father and brother have shops in the bronx if you want.

stang00 01-20-2006 08:53 PM

alright thanks for the imput guys ima go tomorrow and check out a few more shops

95bstallion 01-20-2006 09:31 PM

Just buy the paint and epoxy type primer and the shop will prolly do it for around 100-125. My uncle is a painter so he's tought me a little about this stuff.
