well well ...

went to GreenWay Ford in Orlando today and other places to find me a car. Found a 2000 black auto GT with 66K miles...they wanted 14999, when me and my dad heard that, he almost flipped out. Only probs are that it needs new window tint, 2 SMALL chips of paint (can get bra cover), and the driver door RADDLES when it shuts(dealer said they'd fix it) and a small buff mark on the front end. Has black leather interior and mach system. My dad was able to talk him down from 14999 to 10500, I love the car, took it for a test drive, and i loved the difference between it and my 98 v6...lol

do you guys think 10.5K is good for what i described? thx... :)

MattJ 01-01-2006 05:58 PM

10,500 seems like a pretty decent deal.

decent price considering private party value is 10,255$

i say keep looking. i got my 00 with 35k on it for 12,500 in PERFECT condition. bought it off some old man..

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 06:03 PM

i cant buy from a private seller anyway, so i wont find an old man to buy it off of...lol

stang00 01-01-2006 06:04 PM

idk i woudl not buy it just because of the problems that means somethign happened to it either the owner was an asshole or it was in a accident

yea, the guy prob drove the **** out of it.

madmatt 01-01-2006 06:06 PM

Seems kinda pricey to me, I dunno.

Icefreezen 01-01-2006 06:09 PM

Whats the trade in on your car? Was that included? Tell them to fix the door and slap a warrenty on it and call it a deal. Dont forget about taxes, tags, and lisence plate. That isnt included in the deal. That better give you a damn good deal on your trade.

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 06:12 PM

thats 1 prob, no trade-in...still owe alot on it and moms taking the car and payments with her... and the dealers fee is 500...lol

Oh crap ...... ummmm might wanna whittle at that price a bit more at least 9,500-9,800 and like I said fix the door and slap a warrenty on it.

BrentK 01-01-2006 06:15 PM

Keep looking..there are alot of GTs selling right now for good prices that are in excellent shape,be patient and you will come across one

shad0ws 01-01-2006 06:17 PM

Try to find a 5spd, I mean if you want an auto then go for it. Don't just get it because you drove it and it's close to what you want. Well, what I'm trying to stay is if its not exactly what you want then find something else. Anyways, I paid 8500 for my 99 5spd with 73k miles and clothe interior.

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 06:18 PM

i went to 6 dealerships, also had courtesy check there comps for all stangs in the CFL area that are at a courtesy dealership, cant find none in my range...

and my dad is gonna try to talk him down to 10 flat...i just think its FUNNY how they TRIED to attempt to say it was worth 15K...my dad cracked up and the guy said "we'll see what we can do"

edit : i want automatic tho...and its a nice car...just gonna try to lower it even more...

whitethunder46 01-01-2006 08:09 PM

auto's kick arse if you mod them correctly but maybe I'm biased :shifty:

Get a carfax or something especially with the problems you mentioned. A lot of dealerships now a days will include one for free if there's a serious interest in the car.

Naw no bias here...i've driven manuals and autos. I enjoy my auto especially in daily driving. I like manuals as much as the next person but I cant take a whole lot of it while i'm at work. BUt hey its all a personal opinion not to mention the 4R70 tranny is pretty sick it can handle as much as the engine can put out.

CCM 01-01-2006 09:31 PM

Don't get it. Don't settle for it or just jump on it because you're excited. I PROMISE that you'll be happy you waited when you find that "perfect" one. Seriously, that thing sounds like a piece to me, the only perfect used car is the one that you don't say stuff like "It's a little messed up here and there, BUT it's only $xx,xxx!" No matter what, you're going to come across things wrong with a used car that you didn't pick up on before you bought it. So if you start out with 3 or 4 problems, down the road it'll have 5 or 6.

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 09:49 PM

thats one thing tho...the door will be fixed by the dealer...bumper buff dont matter much skince i wanna put on the 380R front end and wing neways...a nd the 2 chips on the hood will be covered by a bra, or just not covered at all...ehhhhhhhhhhh

If thats the case bump down the price a bit more then no worries but make sure you get a warrenty just to make sure its all cool. Also make them flush the tranny while their at it....make the dealer you bitch not your self you want their car they gotta do something for you.

CCM 01-01-2006 09:57 PM

I'm telling you man, be patient and you won't regret it. Good things are worth waiting for.

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 09:57 PM

lol ok, well 2morrow morning its going thro its "safesty expection and detail" ... cause when i saw it, it was in dieing need of a good washing...lol

Just make sure everything is cool...i'd also ask them to put it on a lift so you can inspect underneath yourself......thats what I did......I'm very careful on the cars I buy...dont take any chances..and work out all kinks in the deal try to get as much out of it as possible without raising the price.

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 10:06 PM

one thing is, they r giving me the option of taking the car home for a day to "test drive" it FULLY and basically look at everything myself...my dad is going with me, and he's a mechanic soo he'll be my inspector...so far he said it looks good, and is fast..lol//he wants to make sure the tranny is well and nothing will fall apart

foncarelli 01-02-2006 03:54 AM

You need to be more precise in the terms ,"what you are looking for". Narrrow it down to what you will settle for. If a couple of paint chips are no problem for you, then go for it. But make them come down on that price a little more.

I know you cant wait to get another stang but take your time. Even if you find something perfect after you buy it you will come across a better deal later.

FritoBandito 01-02-2006 07:18 AM

Those chips may not be a big deal now, but will become an eyesore to you as time passes. I'd look around. car bras are the gay. :nono:

B-rett 01-02-2006 07:25 AM

seems pricey i got my 99 last year with 16000 miles on it for 12900 and it was mint 2 small scratches that dealer painted for me, also already had cold air intake, flowmasters, and chrome bullitts(not stock) with nitto 555 tires practically new, headlight covers, o ya and you cant forget those pretty altezza taillights that were on it when i got it lol :bash:

csledd 01-02-2006 07:31 AM

yeah I think you maybe able to drop them down a bit more.. I understand what you mean about not being able to buy private party. I absolutely had to buy mine from a dealership to get financed, that's the only thing I love about car dealerships :)

WaterDR 01-02-2006 07:38 AM

To me, the price seems a tad high by about $1000 - $1500. I think stang prices have really kept their value or even gone up recently...it is confusing, but I think the 2005's have thus far been good to the rest of us.

Consider this, I have had my 2000 GT Vert for three years. I paid $15,400 for it three years ago with 37k on it....got it from a dealer. Perfect no, but clean and in comperable shape for the miles.

If the car you are looking at is $10k, then hell, mine should be 12-13k now (same miles as this one). I am not accounting for my mods.

If you like the car and 10k is good for you, then go for it and don't look back. Only you know what people are trying to get for stangs where you live.

If it were me, I would be trying to find one with less then 50k on it or even 40k. Why? Because people who put less then 8k a year on their cars ALWAYS take care of them. BUT, finding one with low miles like that won't be easy either and most private owners have a hard time parting with a car that they babied.

Icefreezen 01-02-2006 09:05 AM

Can we get some pics? I would like to see engine, the paint chips, and around th car. I I was in Orlando i'd take a look at it myself but I wont be there till Saturday.

GREG@94GT 01-02-2006 09:23 AM

yeh... keep lookin...

AND BEFORE YOU EVER BUY A CAR

CHECK THE VIN #
i cannot stress that enough... lookin at cars before i bought my 94 gt, I saw some beautiful cars...

there was one i looked at... a 95 cobra... (last year of the 5.0 and a COBRA) i was like WOW AWESOME... checked the vin... turns out it was a salvage... meaning it was at one time wrecked...

the dealer was asking above value since it was in nice shape...

when ya get a car that was beat or in accident then ya usually have problems...

WHY is the door rattling? could be simple like the door hinges are loose.. or something serious like the frame is bent...

Something better always comes up...

madmatt 01-02-2006 09:46 AM

I dunno, my car according to KBB isnt worth CRAP. Of course, they dont account for the fact that its a 35th anniv. but still wtf gives. Now, I know I could get much more for it, because well, thats mustang tax. Just kinda pisses me off, cause if I ever wanted to trade it in, they'd screw me.
