Saleen Center Exhaust question

6 Attachment(s)
I know a lot of you know that I bought a 01 GT with a Saleen kit on it. I bought the kit used, and it is a fiberglass kit. Here's my problems, the previous owner's wife got a hold of the car and backed it up into a pole, so obviously there's cracking everywhere. Honestly though, if you were behind me in a car you would never see it. You have to be standing less than like 5 feet to notic it. I'm going to re-paint my side skirts and just keep the fiberglass. The rear end however I think I'm going to replace the entire bumper with urethane. Question is, what do you all think about the center exhaust with the bumper? This would cost me 300 dollars more for the exhaust tubing to exit out the center. I can keep all my SLP exhaust, it's just an add on tubings. Voice your opinions.

never seen it before (only on a porsche or howeva u spell it) but i kinda like it

i think that be a sick idea i woudl do that if the rear bumper did not cost 550$ all by itself

Yea, whether I kept the dual exhaust or go the the center exhaust, both bumpers are around 500. But i have to get a new bumper anyways I think, so I think it's worth another 300 for center exhaust tubing and a sweet look. Also, the tips for the center are a 4inch rolled double walled tip.

I figure that if I kept my stock rear bumper, the cost of stripping it and then repainting it would be as much as prepping and painting a new bumper.

wow 500 i thought the umm not center exhaust one ive found was around 400 but yeah if you have the money def go for the center exhaust looks real mean

That's urethane, I've looked around and seen them both the same, even the entire kits are the same, whether u get the center rear valence or the regular one.

go to a local exhaust shop, im sure somebody could fabricate some pipes that would exit through the center and not cost you $300. thats too much money to just bend the pipes to the center.

stang00 12-19-2005 11:11 AM

yeah thats not a bad idea either then i can get magnaflow 4in rolled tips that be sick

Do it, do it now!

whitethunder46 12-19-2005 07:11 PM

ok, here it is. Keep my fiberglass side skirts and rear valence. Get everything re-painted for about 600 dollars.

OR

Spend another 1000, for a total of 1600 dollars to keep the fiber side skirts and get them re-painted. Get a polyurethane center exhaust bupmer and center piping with 4inch rolled tips.

stang00 12-19-2005 07:19 PM

perfecto

now go and do it already

Wow, you need a hook up bad. That's outrageous for paint and body!

whitethunder46 12-19-2005 07:43 PM

how much should i spend to have my existing side skirts taken off, sanded, repainted and reinstalled. PLUS painting and PREPPING the new urethane bumper for insall?

stang00 12-19-2005 07:44 PM

u have it about right he was saying make a friend in a shop then it will be cheaper

Exactly. or you could take them off and sand them yourself. And i think the true saleen bumpers come prepped.

Just a little update on this. Checked out a shop today that I've been in a few times and who kinda knew me, at least by name, lol. Anyways got a quote that includes taking off my sideskirts, stripping the paint, fixing any fiberglass cracks, re-prep, paint, clear and re-install for 250 (includes the paint). And if I brought in the bumper for the center exhaust they would charge me another 250 for prep, paint, and install for the Urethane bumper.

Not to bad IMO. But this was one of my first quotes. Also, they're real good with fiberglass, which I think is important.
