Thumbs up Consumers Report & Mustang.

Received the 2006 Consumers Report today. Page 202 gives the ratings for their "reliabilty verdict" on Ford Mustangs for the years 1997 to 2004.
CR rates the 98,99,02 & 04 as "above average reliabilty overall", and the 97,00,01 & 03 as "average reliabilty". None were rated as "below average ". (As with GM auto's).
The monthly edition for April 2005 CR stated the 2004 Mustang was the best car built in North America.
My 04 GT vert has never been back to the dealer for anything. I've used synthetic oil since new (I change it). No mods except MT's SCTX2 tune.
What's your opinion about CR conclusions?

Ive got an 01. Only real problem ive had with it was pinging.. and that was because of a dirty k&n filter. My tie rods squeek too but thats from lowering it. Its never caused me a problem to where ive had to take it in.

There is a TSB on this, take yours to the dealer and get it fixed. They fixed my 04.

98, nothings wrong other than the squeek sounds and over bumps...never took to shop other than brakes (since car is older...) other than that, no real problems..

(this chick i was talking to 2day said that HONDAS > FORD because fords are "POS" and always break down she says...rofl i blocked her on AIM -she isnt good looking either...and said stangs r gay-)

I love my mustang, but the next car i'm getting will definately be a chevy. Either a good low mileage 200+ trans am ram air, ss or maybe a low priced FRC vette. I have fallen in love with the cams available for ls1's..

2002 GT here. Had seat belt retractors replaced. Old Mach 1000 liked to eat CDs and was replaced with a brand new head unit, but I gutted that whole system for aftermarket. I Have a few squeeks and rattles. Other than that, trouble free.
