Dude, 94-95 cobra. hands down. hell yeah. guy.

MineralGT 09-25-2005 07:31 PM

Gotta go with the Cobra.

95bstallion 09-25-2005 07:34 PM

5.0

I know you guys believe the 4.6 is a better engine but the 5.0 cobra has gt40 heads and has to have a lil spunk to it plus its still a cobra :D i want a convertible w/e i get though.

MattJ 09-25-2005 07:36 PM

99+ cobra is where its at.

95bstallion 09-25-2005 07:38 PM

money

Well im only 17 and cant afford a cobra out of the 94-98 area :(

Shambles 09-25-2005 07:39 PM

how much cash did you get for the stang....

96-98 Cobras are where its at...I got mine with 69K miles for 9k in really good condition!

You get more HP from a 96-98 Cobra than you did with the 95 Cobra R.

95bstallion 09-25-2005 07:42 PM

...

I got $6500+ all the money i have saved up and my parents are gonna chip in some so ive got things covered. :)

venom 09-25-2005 09:12 PM

Get a 96-98 Cobra but not a GT from those years as you will be very disappointed with performance.

madmatt 09-26-2005 05:03 AM

Yes, get the 96-98 cobra or youll wish you hadnt bought the GT. The 96-98 gt's are DOGS! Im serious, and no, Im not sorry if I offend a non pi headed car, because you know as well as I, that they are slow. 4v or nothing else...

95bstallion 09-26-2005 01:27 PM

tangerine

well im looking at a tangerine 96 gt convertible and there were only like 829 produced and i love the color.

4.6 Love 09-26-2005 02:08 PM

Yes 96-98 cobra or a 99+ GT is what you should be looking for. :)

If you are picking a Mustang only on color and not on power your honeymoon will be over rather quickly but to each his own.

95bstallion 09-26-2005 04:26 PM

performance

Yes I know that would be cool but dont get diappointed when a V6 Accord smokes you so dont try to pass it on the expressway. Cobras are a rare car and worth more than any GT but I do understand as that color is very sweet.

95bstallion 09-26-2005 06:53 PM

v6 accord

You are not serious are you a v6 accord i might have to rethink the tangerine gt thing

WaterDR 09-26-2005 07:34 PM

I know a guy hear selling a 96 snake with 45k miles on it. $6k in mods. I think he wants $7800 or something like that. It is a blue-green color.

He works at the Wilkes-Barre, PA Jiffy Lube. He also has 93 Snake with twin turbos. Needs the cash fast.

95bstallion 09-27-2005 12:58 PM

hmm

Well ill really have to think about it all but i would like the gt convertible so i can mod the exterior i wouldnt feel comfortable doing it to a cobra but here are the mods that will go down on the tang convertible. cobra r high rise hood, 18 inch chrome y2k cobra rims, cobra r front (poly with saleen s2k rear and sideskirts(poly) black widow tonneau cover and black widow spoiler i thin that will make a nice combo :D and for the engine etc i plan on chroming out everything i can. Borla exhaust intake and down the road maybe a supercharger.

Fat Lard 09-27-2005 06:52 PM

I have a '96 Gt and it's not slow. Considering a spanked a few newer model mustangs.

ShakerScoops 09-27-2005 08:59 PM

Go with the Cobra!! You can always paint the car. You have better configuration of parts on the cobra! Just my 2 cents with some change!

95bstallion 09-28-2005 07:52 PM

....

Well im more leaning toward the tangerine at this point just because its convertible and in such nice shape but if a cobra comes about soon that is convertible i might just take it. Either way im still getting a v8 a sound that will make anyone happy :D

join the tangerine club. some people are into more performance, some are into looks. let's face it, a gt can have performance too. Cobras may give you a better starting point, but if all you are really going for is a nice exhaust sound, there won't be much difference in the two. definately get the chrome wheels with the orange, really complements the color well. It sounds like the way you described all the work to do to the outside, you will like the tangerine better, fits more into what you want to do with your car. You need to get what you will me most happy in. If all you want is a little performance, but a whole lot of style, the tangerine is the way to go. Trust me, you will get a lot of stares. And of course, if you decided you wanted a little more performance later, you can always swap engines or rebuild or whatever later, and be able to blow a cobra away and still have your styling. Its all in current priorities.

boss

O man your car is friggen sweet i think ill deff be joining the tang club i love to get lots of stares and i think the tangerine will help.

96TangerineBossGT 09-29-2005 09:27 AM

yeah i need to get some more pics on here. I had some but my computer crashed. they were actually from the guy i bought it from. believe it or not, i do not own a digital camera. I have just been too lazy and cheap to go buy one. I will try to post more soon. but yeah, if you like attention, you will get plenty. at least I do here where I live anyway.

04DarkShadowGT 09-29-2005 09:44 AM

I would get a 96-98 Cobra Vert. Thats what I want anyway.

Lightning247 09-29-2005 11:06 AM

If your looking for a "wow" factor you have to establish which strata of people you're looking to impress.

The first person you need to address is yourself. Do this for you and no one else. You WILL be dissapointed with a non-pi 2v GT in the performance department. It's just that simple. GT's are beautiful cars as anything else...esp. with suspension wheels etc. But personal preference I don't care what it looks like. It's all about performance. All Go..no Show. And to be honest, I've never looked twice at a non-pi GT in the performance catagory. They just don't stand a chance.

A Cobra of any color is certainly more impressive then a GT. Pre95 they are all 5.0 different heads/intake etc. But everyone slaps aftermarket heads on them anyway...so 5.0 GT vs. Cobra it's all the same to me.

any 4V DOHC motor is levels above their SOHC counterparts. And anyone who is serious in the performance world (the only ones you should car about what they think) will immediately give 1 order of magnitude's Kudo's to a Cobra over a GT. It's just that simple. Anything can be made fast...but think of it like this, what's more impressive a wrx or an STI? Entirely different animals, worlds apart in performance.

Think about resale value. The price of the cobra's are decreasing. But in a few years you couldn't sell a GT for nothing...no matter what color etc.

Just give it some thought man.

My educated opinion and recommendation would be a 96-98 4V, or a 99/00 GT if you prefer the boxier shape...but it will follow behind the 4v marginally in performance...but still a strong runner compared to a non-PI GT.

Good luck bud.

Philip K.

Yes all this stuff runs thru my mind everytime i think about what i should do but how hard is it to change the heads taken a set off a 99-04 gt? I have my own personal mechanic if you want to get right down too it. Im really just trying to impress anyone that likes cars not strictly mustang fanatics.
