Coming aboard...

Just signing on...first visit to site...it's excellent! I currently have a 1965 convertible and a 2003 Saleen coupe. I'm a "forum-junkie" (so at least you know somebody is reading your posts!).

Welcome to the funny farm! Nice rides. You certainly have "both sides of the fence".

MM- 3,000 RPM stall speed torque convertor from Precision Industries. Twinturno kit ((yielded 488 rwhp and 570 torque at 8 lbs boost). I blew it up in Bristol last month... was running 12.8 on street tires (traction? what traction?). Installing a new engine week after next (aftermarket...rated at 525 HP...I'm adding a set of BBK headers, a K&N FIPK, and swapping out the 3.27 rear for a 3.73.
Going to either sell the twinturbo kit or maybe use it to build a bracket car.

Bristol ehh? I race there also im from Glade Spring VA but and in Blacksburg now at college at VT. Maybe ill see you down there sometime if you are talking about bristol dragway in bristol tn. I might even go this tuesday i dont have to work.

Is this a 4.6 motor? Im just trying to find out how it makes 525 hp. Is it blown, or are you going to use the turbos on it. You know good and well if you sell the turbos youll never forgive yourself... ;)

WaterDR 09-19-2004 06:45 PM

The motor that is referring to is probably NA and most likely NOT a ford 4.6. It might be a 5.4 and will have some real agressive cams and certainly lots of re-inforced internal goodies. Probably spins to 7,000 rpms too.

Imagine, your 4.6 if it could spin to 7,000 rpms still building power along the way. It can, with the right cams, valves, and springs and forged internals.

Ford build these motors to drive in the heat and last 100k + miles. There is much more to be had from them.

Man id love to have the torque of a 5.4 liter and the horsepower all the way up to 7,000 rpm. A blower sounds nice, but theres something appealing about a 7000 rpm 2v... :D

WaterDR 09-19-2004 07:04 PM

Matt:

Keep in mind that the 5 speed Mach 1's redline at 7,000 rpms I believe. The automatics do not as they lack some forged components. The Mach 1 is a 4V motor, but it's higher redline is one thing that is appealing about the car besides thes extra hp.

Yea, id love to have one in the Red color that they come in. Such a dreamy car. Id have to have a Mach 1, and an 03 Cobra in my garage. Hmm, which flavor today...
