Default Looking at a Mach-1 tommorow! Need help.

I live in Eastern Ky, and it has been impossible to locate a good Mach-1... but I finally found a guy who lives about 40 minutes away, and we're meeting up tommorow so I can see his car.

I've only spoke with him on the phone, but he said it's a red Mach-1, and has a rebuilt title. The reason it has that title, is because it was hit about 5 years ago, but had everything fixed, new hood and fender, etc. He said hes a racer, and loves mustangs... and that there is no frame damage, and that it drives fine, and said he wouldn't try to sell me something that was junk.

He only want's $10,500... and the car has a little over 40k miles. It's a 5 speed.

I'll look tommorow, and make sure it has the 32-valve motor, etc... make sure its real. And then let you guys know anything else.

Is there anything I should ask, or look for... or should I keep waiting for a better one, which may take a while because of my crappy location?

Run away.........as fast as you can!

But seriously, I wouldn't consider buying a salvage title car from a self admitted racer. Not only has it been totaled by the insurance company but it's been ragged on for years since then. Ultimately it's your decision but I wouldn't pay anywhere near that for a salvage title. Keep us updated.

Heres the deal: I'm ready to buy a Mach-1 right now. I've been looking everywhere in my area, searching by internet also, and can't find anything. I can already tell that I won't be getting this one, because of the title, and all the miles on it. All I'm gonna do is take a look at it.

But if anyone on here knows of one in my area, hook me up! It must be 5-speed, and have low miles. I'd love to have it before the snow starts falling, so I can garage it and start some mods before spring.

I'll let you know how tommorow goes... 98% sure I'm not buying it.

40k miles is pretty low for a 2004. The salvage title does suck which is why the asking price is only 10,500. I would still offer 9500 and see what he says. Ask the guy for the Car Fax and see what the damage was that caused it to get a salvage title. Plus you will see how many owners and some of its maintenance history and warranty work.

Don't give him asking price, but for our area, it is hard as **** to find a mach1 or anything that special.

Is it a 03/04 Mach1, there were some engine TSB's out for the 03 model and make sure they were all done, they rushed the 03 models off the line to make deadline for Ford. So make sure they may have been done.

But yes dont jump into it, and 40k is pretty low for miles I would have to say!

Quick update, I'm getting ready to go check out the red mach around 5... but have also found a guy in ohio selling his black 04 mach 1 for 19k. It's in perfect condition, completely stock, and has 12k miles. I'm just hoping he can meet up a bit closer.

But anyways. wish me luck.

41858 -wouldn't spend more than 19k.

I looked at the mach, and it was pretty nice. Still not going after it though. I'm hoping the guy with the black one in columbus will e-mail me back soon.

I'll post a pic tonight of the red one I saw today.

Man you weren't kidding. I only found two 5spd Machs with lower miles and they were 4-5 hours from you.

The car was really nice, and sounded pretty mean. I was tempted to buy it, but knew I couldn't, because of the title. He said he'd drop to 10k. It was fixed up nice, I wouldn't have been able to tell it had been wrecked, if he hadn't had pointed it out.

I'm still talking to someone up north about a black one though. Hope it works out, I'll keep you guys updated.

Here's a pic: That mach was pretty scared sitting next to my mighty sixer.

Nah, he would have let me I'm sure... but that town was packed with traffic that day. I would have drove it if I was going to buy it, but I just let him take me down the road in it. I have a video from the inside.

Right now I'm waiting on an e-mail from someone in Ohio, really hoping I can get that one. But if not, I'm still talking to two other people about a Comp orange one, and a DSG one.

Well... I found it. Believe it or not, I may be a Mach-1 owner very soon. I'm taking the info to our credit union tommorow. She agreed to hold it for me. (I just got off the phone with the owner).

It's a 2003 black Mach-1, she's the only owner and driver its ever had, it's 5-speed, 12k miles... and still has the original tires. Original everything.

However, it's not final yet... but it's almost 90% sure going to be mine, so cross your fingers!

12k miles, nice. The only way I'd ever consider owning another Newedge is if it has less than 40k miles. lol

You're SICK!

I always wondered why Ford built the Mach 1's and put the sail panels, big motor, shacker hood, and dash setup, then went and put the ugliest wheels they could find laying around to put on the car. They say it was for a "retro" look but if that was the case they should have used the Model A wooden wheels. All the Mach wheels just look like ???????

Beautiful Car! and good luck with the loan

Well, I got the loan! My father and I are going to Ohio next week to pick it up!
I'd say I won't quit feeling nervous until I'm actually in the car driving it home... cus I still can't believe how well everything worked out. I've been dying for one of these cars a long time... and after serving 4 years in my faithfull sixer, I think I deserve an upgrade. Just gotta play the waiting game now, but looks like I'll be a Mach owner within a week. My frist V8 stang!

Don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but you guys will have to help with some mod ideas. I was thinkin' of an MGW short-throw first. Just thought I'd let you guys know the good news.
