Next car.

Sometime within the next year I'm getting a new car, having had mine for around 5 years or more now I'm getting pretty tired of it.

I've narrowed it down to a couple choices.

05 and up GT
350z
RX8

I feel most comfortable going with a mustang, but I wanna try something different.

I really want a impreza wrx or sti but its out of price range for the body style I like.

Guys help me out, anything I should know? I've heard things like the 350z's have an bad front tire wear problem, RX8's are unreliable etc.

Im in the same boat, but have had my car for 7 years now. I want something a bit more praticial but still not sure what I want....

350Zs are POS. Unless you want a nimble track car. But they lack power, gain nothing from mods unless its a power adder of some sort. Have unreliable motors (burn oil, drop valves, etc.). My buddies had the biggest problem with little shit like window motors and the audio system, then came to find out it was super common.

RX8s are nice. But its a rotary. So reliability is not its strong suite. Great track cars, once again. But they're not really great DDs. Horrible gas mileage for what it is too.

What are you wanting? Just rough idea will give us more to play with. Do you want FWD at all? Whats the price range? Preferred miles and year range?

Something quick, RWD, nice exhaust note, around 80k miles, any year, less than $11,000.

The S197's are completely different animals from the SN95's. If you really want somehting different and reliable that's your best option, just get an '06+ (yes '06+).

krazypony 07-22-2011 12:49 PM

the s197's get pretty good gas mileage too for a 3v v8

The white/blk stang and Black 350z ( Good Mileage ) almost like the best bet there from what I can see visually... the Black GT S197 ( whats with the tail pipes, looks like a v6 with dual exhaust? )

but were just looking right...

I wouldn't want anything less practical than a Mustang, which would rule out a 350Z due to only 2 seats and probably the RX8 due to lack of space and Tq. Mustang or something like a MazdaSpeed3 or Mini Cooper S (maybe, falls close to the RX8), or STi. I personaly would want the Tq and rumble of a V8 so I'd still stick to a Mustang or something completely different.

Kinda wish I could suggest something but cars and prices are way different over here. :smokin:

Must be an early model 350Z. The newer ones have one of the top ten rated motors in the world and are very reliable,I loved mine but needed something more practical at the time. I agree with the power adder gains unless its boost related but for the cost its a hell of a fast little car. The new 370Z is a even faster ride. The Nissan VQ35 has been featured on the Ward's Top 10 engines for the past 13 years in a row. This speaks highly of Nissan's power plant.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward's_10_Best_Engines

I'd go with a newer Mustang krenogin if thats your choices. Not a fan of Mazdas for sure.

Yeah the 07 (I think thats when they started the new motors) and up 350z's are sweet. Great car. Pretty fast and a car that you can drive all day, anywhere, everywhere. Decent mpg too.

Get the Z.

wtf why are those mustangs so cheap compared to the used ones over here. So not fair.

krenogin 07-25-2011 06:55 PM

The black one is a bullitt. It was wrecked and rebuilt, wasnt in too bad of a collision but it just sold. I've been looking at more and I think the mustang seems more for me, and I think i'd rather have a coupe G35 over a 350z because its got more practicality, still looks nice and performs well too.

Thanks for the help, I learned some things about those cars I didn't know.

I don't think you're really going to find a G35 coupe in your price range of 11,000 unless it has a lot of miles on it.
