Hey fellas, a friend of mine just got a 2006 and she is hating the headrest and trying to reach back for the Seat Belt the way they have it positioned in there.

On the 00-04 models they have a plastic loop that can catch the seat belt and on these models that doesnt seem to be a option at all.

Is there a remedy to this other than not wearing the seat belt? Do they make a addon to bring the seat belt closer so your not reaching back so far?

Really stupid design!

 

A couple of guys on S197 forums made ones on their CNC machines, but I don't think there is anything mass produced for it......it sucks.

 

The reasoning for them not doing that might be related to the seat-belt retractor spring doohicky failing in the older cars. Nobody likes flaccid seat belts.

 

I do not know a fix for this. When I did the Adrenaline Tour with Hyundai a few years ago when the Genesis was first comming out, that was the number one thing I hated about the car. Everytime I got into one it was PITA to reach the seatbelt. I've got short legs and I like to sit a little closer than most normal people would anyways. (My knees nearly touch the underside of the steering wheel plate in my Mustang, but I use my knees to keep me in place in the car.) So I have to reach back even farther. I also hate the headrests in the 05+ mustangs. I rode in one with a helmet on and felt like I was forced to bend my neck down and look at my crotch the whole time I was in the car.

 

cant believe they would keep designing them this way with all the complaints...
