Kinect For Xbox 360
Anyone have it? Opinions? I'm thinking of getting one.

The games for Kinect blow right now, you have to have 6-8 feet to have it in its "optimal working zone" (or the only zone it works at all), and you have to be very careful with lighting in the room as too dark and the webcam can't see you but too light and the infrared can't see you. I'd wait to see what games they pop out and then go from there. |
My brother has it and only issue is space. You have to have at least 8ft to really get an accurate reading of the player. I think its the best motion sensor out of the 3 consoles. You do not need to hold any device but tracks your whole body. We had a lot of fun using it plus you can control the dashboard with it and give it voice commands so no need for a controller.

Yeah Space is no issue. As I have my TV mounted on the wall, with an open floor space in front of it. Lighting isn't an issue either as I have dimming track lights along the ceiling in a few areas.
|
played it last night at my friends place. again, only issue we had was space. we had to move his couches back because he has barely any space in his townhouse, plus we had ~15 people there. if you've got the space, it's good fun.

I have it and like it so far. Setting up was a breeze. I'm about 5-6 feet away and it works just fine. My couch sits right behind me and I have 2 sliding glass doors in my family room. Sure the games aren't the best at the moment, but neither were the wii's when it came out. I figured I was going to get it anyways, so why not just get it at launch. With a few updates it will be pretty sweet. Like supporting Netflix, dvds, and your own video library with it, and maybe eventually incorporate the whole dashboard. But so far I'm pleased with it and have had fun.

Wiisports was ten times better than any game Microsoft has out with the Kinect.

All this damn motion shit. Why does it have to be so awesome? I just bought a Wii over the summer, too, and now Sony AND microsoft completely destroyed it with their new stuff. Ugh. I'm really interested to see what's next for video games. We have 3D, motion sensing, I mean what's left?
|
next will be feel/touch and smell... could make a interesting porn game!
|
Next is probably gonna be virtual reality, with 360/ps3 graphics, or even better. Not that gay 90's shit.

I love the people who bitch about Kinect, and all the motion controlled stuff. Saying how it's going to ruining gaming for hardcore gamers and this and that. If you don't like, don't buy the damn thing. It's an add on to enhance the gaming experience. It's not like they are changing games that are already out or making every game motion controlled. People are stupid.

now that it's been hacked and there are open-source drivers for it I can see some use cases. It's still a worthless trying-to-be-a-wii chunk of crap though.

I played with one the other day at my friends house. Definitely a blast and an awesome addition to the xbox. can't wait to try out some more games on it. I would buy one if I had a 360.

Just got kinect for christmas and it's great for parties. We had it going non-stop for about 4 hours christmas eve and 7 hours christmas day and nobody got bored with it. I have Wii too and this kicks it's ass. Once more games come out for it wii will be pointless as already nobody wants to play it anymore.

I have a Wii and the kinect...Wii is a peice of junk it sits in my closet collecting dust and taking up space. The kinect is awesome so far...Can't wait to see what kind of games come out for it this year.
