My poor little guy!

I usually take my dog Bullitt out at around 11:30 pm or so for him to do his thing. I am usually very careful in where we both are walking (I keep him on a leash at all times). Recently we have had two attacks by a 70# Pitbull that the owners REFUSE to leash, even after multiple attacks. The pit just attacked a cat right where I walk my dog 2 nights ago right around the same time I usually take Bullitt out.

Because of the recent attacks I admittedly wasn't paying much attention to where we were walking. I was keeping an eye on the building and direction that I know the pit lives. While my focus was elsewhere bullitt stood right in a fire ant mound. They got his legs good  He has sensitive skin and some unknown allergies so I took him right to the doggie ER. They gave him some shots and Benadryl and told me to keep him on the Benadryl for two days. He is doing fine but I just feel bad for him.

I hate when people don't leash their dog in heavily populated areas.
I hate when people train their dogs to agressive and have no control over them.
I hate Fireants.
I am dissapointed that I focused solely on one thing and didn't pay attention to something so simple.

Here is Bullitt. He is a Pit boxer mix in case anyone was thinking that I was just hating on pits in the first paragraph.

damn the last picture shows they really got your pup, has he been improving?

whitestang04 09-09-2010 12:44 PM

He is doing fine now. The Benadryl has made him a little sleepy today. I am surprised he hasn't been itching them at all.

Man those fireants really got him good, Im glad to hear he isn't hurting too bad. I'm also surprised he isn't itching them.

Aww, poor dog :(

zigzagg321 09-09-2010 04:35 PM

Poor dog...that sucks. Glad hes gonna be ok.

Fireants are afraid to come this far north I guess... I saw them plenty when I lived in Ga tho.

Poor pup, seems real nice too. Glad to see hes not hurt, and shouldnt the dog that keeps getting loose be call the cops upon?

The other dog and owner have had the cops and animal control called on them. I live in an apartment complex and they say they can't do anything about it since it's private property. the complex has a breed restirction against pits but they don't make any attempt to enforce it. The dog attacked my sister in laws dog last Tuesday and supposedly the complex gave the owner an eviction notice to be out by this past Tues. but they are still there and have the dog. http://glocktalk.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif If he attacks me or my dog he is getting pepper sprayed or shot. The last time he attacked (what I think was a cat) The owner couldn't stop him so she just left him to avoid liability.

Poor baby. He's a cutie pie, too.

I definitely think that if the pit attacks you or your dog or you see him attacking someone else's animals, that you should put your pistol to use. That dog is clearly a nuisance and it's definitely the owner's fault's that he behaves in that manner.

I don't know about where you are, but you can kill an owners dog here if it attacks x amount of times (I can't remember it exactly) We looked it up when we had a neighbor with an aggressive one... but my dad's hook took care of the problem, something about biting stainless steel made him a little more tame

That is one sweet face. I'm glad he's doing better, they really did a number on him.

BTW a crossbow is a very discrete.

Poor dog, hope he's feeling better :(

whitestang04 09-11-2010 09:33 PM

Well bullitt's bites are healing up nicely and he is starting to play around some more now that he isn't on the Benadryl anymore. Oh and the aggressive pit still lives one building over

The cops should be able to do something about that pit. My friend has a 2 pit/lab mixes. They aren't aggresive, but dumber than dirt. Their neighbors have 2 english bulldogs that are outside 24/7, so their dogs broke part of the fence and got through to the neighbors yard. Well they called the cops and my friend got a warning. The next time the cops are called on the dogs, they will take them away. Shouldn't matter if it's private property or not, if there is an aggresive dog that's being let free, then they can do something about it. That or carry a gun with you and if it tries to attack you, shoot the fucker.

heck around here they have a leash law, not on a leash you get fined!

I carry 100% of the time so long as it's legal ;) and that is exactly what the police told me to do.

It's the law here too but the owner was long gone before the police arrived.
