Looked at first mustang since i sold mine...

I'm obviously looking for a better one, lol.

So here is what I looked at today:

2000 Mustang Gt
105xxx Miles
Black/Black Leather
Manual Trans

The good:

FR500 18" Wheels
Nitto Tires
Flowmaster Catback
No Cats
BBK CAI
Prof Products plenum
Dorman intake manifold
Newer clutch
Newer brakes
3.73 gears
Chrome interior accents
Sony head unit

The Bad:

2” Cowl Hood (Plastic, Unpainted)
Front Bumper (Plastic, Unpainted)
A/C Blows Hot
Trans (Gears?)
Inspection
Check Engine/ ABS

The hood and bumper are like a cheap feeling plastic, and are unpainted. The bumper I'm not worried about, but the hood just feels like a cheap plastic. It comes with the original hood (nonfunctional scoop).

The A/C blows hot, don't know why. He hasn't tried recharging it.

When he put it in first it felt like the trans was slipping. But he said that it was because the gears (said the owner before him). I don't know if gears could cause this though.

It is not inspected. It does not have cats. . . I know a guy at ford but not sure if he'll be able to pass that... its more major than my cracked windshield was.

When I got into the car I checked all the guages and lights and stuff by holding the button or whatever. The ABS and check engine bulbs did not light up. I'm guessing the check engine because it does not have cats so it would be on, and thats what he said it probably would be.

Wants 5600, I would probably offer less. But I want to see what you guys think.

I figure repaint the bumper, use the original hood, and recharge the air is all I'll have to do. As long as there are no problems with the engine except the o2 sensors, and the trans is fine. I will get it check out tho of course.

Its a nice looking car. A lot of bad things about it though.

If you're willing to deal with the headache of having all those extra problems go for it. Offer what you think would be bottom dollar first though. Just my .2 cents. I'm all about fixer upper's though. Lol

Yeah I always like the fixer uppers because I want to get the most for my money.

I'm looking to spend like 7k or less. I think that with that budget I can fix all the shit, plus maybe do some more to it. Especially if I offer him like 500 less than his asking price.

I'm just not really sure what I can get for my money, so like I said, I'm looking to get as much as possible.

Look around a little more first since you want to spend 7k.

Have you looked around on SVTPerformance.com? Lots of deals floating around on there.

I'd personally look for something that doesn't need a whole lot of repair. There is usually always more wrong than what is painted out. A car with that many miles I'd be worried about how well it was maintained. You'll never know how the owner before this one took care of it. The plastic feeling hood and bumper is fiberglass, most after market hoods are made out of fiberglass.

You can get a 99-01ish GT for 7 grand. With average miles. Don't worry about getting something that was already worked on, thats the fun part of getting a stock car. You take your time and you mod it as you like.

Dont buy that car unless you can get it for like 3,500-4 grand.

P.S: Got 10k? Buy my car. lol.
