rebelyell 06-05-2010 07:04 PM

I'm sure it didn't take long to get that fast. Were you on the all american freeway? Lots of open strecthes there. Or were you on one of our famous backroads. ( the curvy scary ones). ? either way. you got some balls dude...

krenogin 06-05-2010 09:24 PM

I guess thats as fast as she goes. Cant get any quicker XD!

Flynnster 06-06-2010 06:14 AM

Screw that man, haha. I can't imagine going that fast.

NeedACobra 06-06-2010 08:57 AM

Id do it.

After I composed my last will and testament, just incase.

TUFF 4.6 06-06-2010 11:51 AM

Post up your address so we will know where to send flowers :(

BikerSk8rKid 06-06-2010 05:01 PM

Going that fast on a bike is like NOTHING what you others who don't have one think it is.
Just make sure your upper body is laid down on top of the gas tank when you get upto high speeds. Otherwise it's like getting choked and trying to rip you off it.
I think you need a speedohealer. haha

I haven't gone that fast because I haven't really tried.
I've done 150 I believe and had WAY more room to go.
Then 120 I believe on a 2up and had way mre room to go.

didn't you JUST get that bike? i really hope it isn't your first because from what it sounds like, it'll likely be your last. that kind of irresponsible behavior is why i dislike most sport-bike riders.

I did the same thing, so you can hate on me too. I actually didn't do it until like 5k miles later. As long as it's not gonna cause harm to anyone else, then do whatever, it's at your risk. I did it on a open highway with NO traffic.
Not to be a dick, but it's not really hard to go in a STRAIGHT LINE and go fast, takes skills to do tricks and/or twisties/curving ect..

Edit: and I have no gear either, but a helmet. There is worse riders than what we're doing, like California bikers racing/riding inbetween cars and Colorado having a law where a helmet isn't required. Then other places having different laws.

08mustang_gt 06-06-2010 06:17 PM

All I'm going to say is watch what you're doing.

As soon as you think you "know" your bike and you start to get comfortable, karma will bite you in the ass.

People don't say shit just to put their two cents in, it's because I've had friends die because of stupid shit like this.

The only time I've ever played on my bike like this is on a flat interstate that was clean and during the day. Any other circumstance and you're asking to get fucked.

Just be safe. No more injuries or deaths needed from guys on this forum.

+1
I 101% totally agree. We've already had a few deaths this year and last year was just unbelieveable.
My very first crash was a huge eye opener for me and second/last one, well I learned a lot from both.

You have no gear other than a helmet and claim to have hit 150mph? the only word that comes to mind is "retard". had you fallen off of your bike or a car pulled into traffic, *whatever*, you would be turned into a pile of raw meat and broken bones. riding that fast on a public road that is not race-prepped is dangerous enough just due to the imperfections in the surface.

KGB, dont try to rationalize what you do on your bike (e.g. driving twice the top legal limit in this state which would have a) landed you in jail b) got your bike impounded and c) most likely end with you forfeiting your license to the state) by what other people do and consider it worse. a "clear and open" highway can turn into an occupied highway the second another vehicle enters it. i don't care how fast you think your reflexes are or how good your vision is, there will be a time when either you dont see someone or someone doesnt see you quick enough.

space between two objects disappears fast when one of them is travelling at 176mph. i'd suggest you think, for the safety of others and your own, before you try that shit again on a public road.

I've already had to crashes and walked away with minor scratches and same with my bike. I got lucky and I know that, but I'm not nearly as crazy/stupid to do that again. Even though that has nothing to do with speeding. Yeah I have no gear and I still don't, well I got a dot approved helmet that's upto date now. Going to buy gear soon.
and I do agree with what you're saying, wasn't saying I dsiagree or anything.
In my opinion though, whether you're EXPERINCED or not, it's gonna happen. If the highway I was on had vechiles, gravil, unsurfaced or whatever. I wouldn't have done it in the first place, but as soon as I hit that fast, I slowed down to the speed limit.

California and Oregon do have the new law if your doing over 100 or something, they will take your license, vechile and go to jail.

Deathdiesel 06-06-2010 09:22 PM

Honestly, anyone whos not wearing a helmet should be fined. Anyone whos not wearing a good jacket should just be smart and fuckin buy one. I used to ride my dirtbike(not the same thing i know) without a helmet, and now i dont even think about without a helmet. I had one day, some kids went down my road with a 4 wheeler for like a half our, i decided id join em. Didn't grab a helmet, i was too good to fall. The kid on the 4 wheeler didnt have one on either. It ended up with him hitting a patch of gravel on a turn going probably 50ish and went straight into a tree. I cant say for sure, but im pretty sure he would have atleast survived if he was wearing a good helmet atleast, and probably only a few scrapes and bruises if he had a jacket. Instead he died, and had serious road rash(didnt have the time to feel it) for not wearing any gear. One thing bikers should always do, wear all gear all the time.

you know, its really annoying (while completely understandable) when people jump on the drama train in threads like this. Yeah, he went 176. Oh well. Get over it. If you guys wanna voice your concerns, thats fine, if you've had friends die doing the same thing, Im truly sorry, but they knew the risks when they did it, as well, but Im not bashing them for doing it, so why should you guys be bashing him? Its not like the guy just shit in your grandmothers cereal. Basically, quit trying to make things worse than they really are.

/rant.

Badfish 06-07-2010 01:27 AM

what year is your r6? not to rain on your parade..but the top speed of the 2010 is about 160. so like sk8erkid said, you need a speedohealer..or a very impressive mod list ;)

he is contributing to the problem. i always hear motorcyclists say "START SEEING MOTORCYCLES" and i see bumper stickers with the same slogan. its hard to "see" a biker when theyre clipping at 176 and weaving through traffic. not saying he was in traffic, but i routinely see sportbike riders going at least 30mph faster than traffic and weaving in and out.

K.G.B. 06-07-2010 10:01 AM

What all you guys have said is reasonable and I agree with most. It really isn't hard to get up to high speeds on motorcycle on a straight line. I really thought about what would happen if if a tire blew, something crossed the road or if for any other reason I just had an accident while trying to do this and all my answers were that I would pretty much end up dead either way. That's why it was such an excitement to have accomplished going that fast and live to tell. I don't plan in doing it again unless on a track with a really long straight :)
I know its not right to do this on a public freeway even if its empty
Neither do I encourage anyone else to do it.
Thanks for everyones advice! :)

You didnt go 176...

Threads like these are lame.

Demetri X 06-07-2010 05:05 PM

I couldn't imagine going 176.

I've gone 126 once then decided that adrenaline rush was enough lol.

Call me a bitch all you want, but anything over 130 or so would scare the hell out of me, and I am NOT a slow driver by any stretch of the imagination... although I have gotten better since I got my current car ;)

Don't bike speedometers get more and more inaccurate the faster you go?
