If someone crashes into you at the track...
 

Let's say your at the Dragstrip racing your Drag car. Now, we all know you have no insurance coverage of any kind.... So, in the middle of the race, the guy next to you losses control of his car, and smashes into you in your lane... What happens with that? Would you expect him to pay? Or just suck it up, shit happens..

Just wondering i have never raced my car at a dragstrip.

I dunno, I think you would be paying out of pocket for the repairs?

I actually know a guy that blew a head gasket in his GT500 @ the race track and unbelievably his insurance company paid for it....

I've always wondered this exact same thing.

If you are a member of NHRA your car is insured to a point at the track if it is an NHRA event... if not you get to rebuild it however you want, but pay for it.

On the rare occasion I do go to the drag strip, I normally won't race beside a car unless is it a street driven car just because in my mind, a purpose build drag car is a little more dangerous and catastauphic when something goes wrong. I was rearended on the way to the dragstrip once, but no issues since it was on public roads. At open track events you can buy inssurance, depends on the price of the car.

My buddy blew his rear out in his 08 vette at the track. He had it towed to the dealership, they covered it under warranty.

Did he tell them how it happened though? I have heard a few stories of raced corvettes having parts repaird under warranty. There was a video of a vet on a road course that had huge engine fire from a blown block from oil starvation, repaired from what I heard.

Yea I'd have to agree that if you told them HOW it happened they'd say hell no.

I have heard of guys blowing out rearends at open-track events and also motor related issues as well and having them fix it. I think if you have an N/A car, like you don't have a blower or spray on it, you could get them to fix it and just believe that it was an accident.

I would hope that with the ridiculous prices they charge that they would at least help.

there is a large number of Corvette owners that put thier cars on the track....nad having engines, trans or rear-ends blow for no-reason would be bad for business....

it would be different if you threw on a DIY turbo set-up and got the tune wrong and blew up something.

collisions at the track are part of the risk....

and i am more scared of a 18 year oldin a hot-rodded street car, with a stock suspension coming into my lane...than a full on, purpose built drag that is built to go straight and is driven by an a seasoned racer.

collisions dont happen often on a drag strip though, especially if it isnt a "pure" street drag, meaning they prep the track

It's way more common for one car to spin out and hit the wall than it is for one car to hit the other.

right there. I've been at the track since i was 6 months old and only missed a handful of races... i have only seen a car-car collision once in my life
