Engine nerds! Need help ASAP!

Hello, i need some serious help on swapping a complete motor on a Saturn SC1, i know this is a mustang forum but i sure as hell cant find any sites to help me do so. My main problem is actually disconnecting the motor from the body, ex: from the front axle, and etc. I have allot of the pulling junk out part done, but i cant figure out how to actually disconnect the damned motor from it. Its a front wheel drive, 4 cylinder, the motors real wierd and sideways on this car. I also need to figure out how to split the drive shaft so i can pull the transmission out, unless there is a way i can pull the motor seperate from the trans. Any info really appreciated.:confused:

Heres pictures of as it sits now, sry shitty cell pics but whatever. I looked on youtube of all places and some guy had a vid of him pulling the same motor, but he ppulled his without the trans. how can you? Isnt there a shaft that goes into the motor from the trans?

it's very short... you need to disconnect the half shafts from the hubs... IIRC it's a 1.375" socket and 200lbs of tq. have fun, it's all the suspension that's in the way that has to come off. Basically if you pull the knuckle you should be able to pull the axles (half shafts) directly out... they're not C-clipped from what I recall since the knuckle/hubs hold them in.

Other than that, just disconnect the motor mounts, support the engine with a hoist and disconnect the tranny bell from the motor, shift the motor to the passenger side about 2 inches and it should lift right out with a little lift bias on the crank snout side so the motor sorta tips out. been a while since I was under a saturn but that should hopefully help you.

otherwise, grab a chiltons and see what you missed.

Yea i watched a guy do it on youtube, and thats what he did. My only problem is that mines a manual, would that still allow it to pull out all the way? The guy on utube did it with an automatic trans, i know theres not a ton of difference but that little bit could matter, i intend to take off most of the pulleys, to hopefully give me some more room. I have a trq. wrench meant for tires and larger bolts, hopefully that boy will pull that IIRC socket out. What do you mean by knuckle?

I might have read that wrong but NEVER loosen nuts with a torque wrench. It screws up the reading and you won't be able to tighten bolts accurately anymore.

jesus christ dude... do I have to wipe your butt for you too? :D Here's exactly what I was telling you step by step with pictures.

The knuckle is the big hunk-o-metal that the tie rod/steering arm connects to and into which the axle shaft splines. The bulk of the important things in the front end connect to one of the two.

Maybe...Sorry but my dads the main mechanic on this car. Idk shit about this car, but thanks, that link should actually help allot. And yeah with the torque wrench i was jokin, i never break bolts loose with them. Wrench to break em loose, and if they are long bolts ill use the torque.
