Which provides a better gaming experience?

A fully loaded "gamer setup" PC or
a Playstation 3?

and don't say neither, get an XBOX. ;)

And... I really don't know.. I think PS3 may have a wider game range...

Been busy, new job, new apartment, been racing, not much desire to get up here and get all nostalgic and miss my Mustang....but I have a feeling another one might be in my future. :cool:

BTW, the only game I am really interested in right off the bat is Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare.

I think i'd have to go with PS3. But my post is useless becuase I've never played a PS3 or on a dedicated full gaming PC. The reason I say PS3 is more out of personal reasons. I use my computer for productivity and getting work done for school. If I have games and stuff for the PC, I just see myself slacking off and procrastinating. Plus, PC is one player only (split screen wise) and my g/f enjoys some video games.

FR500 has the right idea. If you go with PS3, get LittleBIGPlanet. My girlfriend and I love playing that with each other. It's the only video game she'll play, but it's a lot of fun. I also think a controller is better than using a mouse and keyboard. But, I'm biased because I've never "gamed" on a PC. PS3 offers more services, and does more though. That, and PC doesn't have UNCHARTED FUCKING 2!! >:O

a ps3 is more fun but im a straight pc gamer. i just bought a ps3 for little big planet, stuff for parties ya kno.. but a pc is hard to keep up in terms of gaming performance so in the long run you will be spending more money than for a ps3. for the equivalent of a gaming pc tower, u can get a ps3 and a huge lcd tv that runs 1080p. but i love pc's for gaming. I use steam, and i play counter strike and l4d2, modern warfare 2, all that, with pc u can also pirate games, not suggesting it, i try until i see if i should buy.

If your worried about graphics, with a powerful pc u can run games and turn the Antialiasing and anisotrophic filtering up n make games look 10x more amazing by smoothing out jaggies, and lengthening depth of field. Also with a sound blaster x-fi card, the audio cannot be beat, and if u need a controller a x360 controlller works with no mods at all. I vote PC.

Depends on the gaming you like.

As a platform, the computer will always be superior for gaming than any console, because of the range of controls and the modding support for most computer games. However like was said, you can't have 2 people playing on one computer, computer gaming isn't very social..you're playing with people that aren't with you; if you want something you and you friends/family can play together and get pissed off at each other with, get a PS3.

Computer games are usually more advanced than console games, because they have that ability. A recent one like Armed Assault 2 which is a military squad/strategic simulator would never work on a console game (Operation Flashpoint 2 is a joke). There are so many aspects to that game that it could never be truly harnessed by a console's controller. However if you just want to play racing games, arcadey FPS's (MW2), and sports games...get a console.

Computers are also a fair bit more expensive..I'm building a new rig that can handle all of my editing software but can also for once play all of these new games on ultra settings, and it's running just above $700 right now, without the power supply. That doesn't include a monitor, keyboard or mouse either. But I can do way more with my computer than anyone ever could with a console.

I actually just helped my roommate build a gaming pc the other day. It ended up being around $800 with everything but the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and wireless card.

lol... for 700 you could have a PS3 and a 32in LCD HDTV

for me the Console is the only way to go. It is SOOOOO much cheaper.

In all serousness, if you already have a PC for your usual internet needs, it would make no sense to get another PC strictly for gaming unless you plan on getting into some seriously hardcore gaming.

I mainly use my PC for racing sims/games. reason is I have my Momo wheel, and a very large desk to mount it all up to. Plus my chair, and pedals actually give a pretty good driving experience. Only problem is keeping PC upgraded. My invidea 7300 video card is now on the very bottom of minimum requirements to run anything new. Geez 2 years ago My shit was the heat.. Now, I'm lucky to make a new game run with all graphics on low or off. Oh well, I'm gonna get a new video card, then I should be ok.. :o

In terms of online gaming. There's no dedicated PC friends list where you can interact with all your friends in all your games, or video/game store, or trophies, Blu-ray, which I doubt he will have on this PC, etc. Sure, you can do all of those things on PC, but they're all separate programs, not built in to the system.

I like how some of you guys recommend getting PS3 because of Littlebigplanet. He wants to play Modern Warfare and you recommend something way on the other side of the spectrum. I would go with the PC just because I wouldn't buy a PS3, but I would always go with a console over a PC for gaming. Modern Warfare 2 on the PC doesn't have everything it does on the consoles.

true about modern warfare, i wont buy it for pc because they stripped it down to make it equal to console games. No modding or anything, and a 60 dollar price tag.. dang, ill kill them if they are a trend setter for pc games and make every other pc game like that. or ill respond with piracy. But pcolas got the best post, take his advice.

You already told me what not to say, but if you are interested in playing modern warfare 2 online the PS3 isn't going to be your best choice. :)

Team deathmatch on PS3 MW2 = Team deathmatch on 360 MW2.
Gameplay is exactly the same. There's no connection issues. One's free, the other isn't... If that's what you're referring too :P

If not, It's definitely a better online experience than PC >:O
