Oops. Well... shoot.
Well, my car has been acting funny lately. Whenever I pushed my clutch pedal to the floor sometimes the revs would hang around 1700-2000 rpms. I assumed the clutch was going bad or something, so I decided to send my car to my mechanic and see what he thought. I took it yesterday and just got a call back from him.
Apparently, when I put my whiteface gauges on I must have bumped the rpm needle, although he said sometimes mustangs come from the factory with this problem. The problem: my car was reading 1100rpm idle when it was actually idling at 765rpm. He figured it out by hooking up his scan tool. I'm not dumb am I? Haha, how could I have known it was wrong? Oh well lol, at least he's gonna put the needle back to an accurate read now. At least I don't have to replace the clutch or anything. Any of you guys ever had funny fixes to your perceived problems? |
Na, you aint dumb. You were smart enough to see something wasn't right so you took care of it. Makes you a lot smarter than a whole lotta people.

UPDATE: I absolutely LOVE my mechanic. He charged me 45 bucks for all of his trouble.

I pay my mechanic in Diamond Bear Pale Ale. He won't take money from me. He shall be included in my will. Good move, atleast he was honest he didn't make up a story like you engine was fucked to the hilt.

glad to hear it all worked out. To see how accurate it is, you can use the in dash diagnostics tool ( the gauge function; that can digitally display speed, rpms, and other cool things) via the odometer read out.

^ HOW? O.o
