WHY ARE PEOPLE SO SLOW!?!?!?!?!

So I recently got my scholarships reevaluated for school and it turns out that I had a scholarship they never gave me so that means that over the past three bills I've paid $1500 too much. So Mizzou said they'd send me a check to refund it.

This was like four weeks ago. AND! to add more fuel to the fire, the undergrad research I got accepted into covers up to $1400 for the cost of my laptop, which mine happen to cost exactly $1398.43 lol. So I was suppose to get a check for that as well, but have still yet to see either of the two.

I WANT MY MONEY!!! Right now on corral there is like three HP and Turbonetics turbo kits that I COULD have the money to buy, but to avail I can't get my freaking checks.

FML. lol. I got myself so excited and now my impatience is beginning to show.

/end rant (for now)

sounds like my school... except theyve became even slower by outsourcing the checks to "higher one" which will let u get money fast or slow, depends on what u want, if want ur money fast, it scamms u and charges u tons of money, and if u want it slow, it takes months. And i got a scholarship and instead of paying for my added bi-term, they sent me a check i had to wait for to pay and almost lost my bi-term. People are very slow!

INtZ 10-21-2009 10:53 AM

Jeez, cry some more why don't cha. I'm waiting for huge checks to come in the mail too, except mine are never gonna come, meaning they dont exsist. lol. And I need money for school not parts for my car, excuse me while i slit my wrists because your checks haven't come.:D

Keep calling and pestering. They'll speed up the process just to get you out of their hair.

NewMustangMan 10-21-2009 12:37 PM

^ or slow it down even more if they are Dicks.

jjtgiants 10-21-2009 12:41 PM

Just keep on them in a respectful, but firm way. Universities are just like government, it takes them a while to do stuff for whatever reason. There might be 3 or 4 layers it has to go through before being approved so just try to keep it moving through the process.

sucks man. when they owe u money they drag their feet, but god forbid u owe them something. friend of mine wasn't allowed to graduate until he paid $30 in overdue library fees.

Yea exactly, that's my point. I have worked my ass off to keep my 4.0 and still take honors classes, undergrad research and work 20-30 hours a week.

But, they keep on telling me it'll just be a few more days, and then two weeks later still nothing.

I'm not saying that I alone deserve better service, because I work in retail I know how fucked up stuff can be to get through a system of networks. But don't tell me that it'll be a few days, just tell me it'll take a month or so and I'd be fine with it.

I talked to the lady today and she said that I might get my computer refund check in a few days, but as for the loan return I still might not see it for a few more weeks lol. She was nice about it though and apologized for the wait.

But hopefully this won't keep persisting. I may graduate before the check ever comes in lol

Its a sad fact but thats the way of the world anymore.

spike_africa 10-22-2009 06:23 AM

My stuff would not show up till a month or two into the classes every time. I had to pay out of pocket then I would get the money later on.

01FR500 10-22-2009 06:33 AM

Yup, I got a foot in that very same boat. They just everyone said, they take a while. They want what is owed them ASAP, and when they ower you something it is by grace of God that you get it in a timely manner.

Edit: What kind of research are you doing? I have to present some findings to my professors about a short term fungal competetion study today, yay.

Are you guys getting your masters degree's or is this undergrad?

I've only been out 1 year and I think, depending on what happens with this job I am trying to get, I will get my masters.

Mine is just for undergrad right now. Basically what we're studying on right now is mutations and what affects them. We actually just got word from the University to try the new "radio-wave" cancer treatment on cancerous cells in preserved organs.

The research is a group of the Heads of colleges from all over campus and then 7 of us as the actual researchers. It's pretty cool having the top people in the school being the ones who run your research. My major is Pre-Med and Biochemistry so this fits in just right.

Later on when I get closer to my masters I will stay underneath the same people for my research then.

lol i used to never buy my books for college and at the end of the semester id get a check for 700 bucks all the books are online these days

01FR500 10-22-2009 12:31 PM

Mine is undergrad also. I have been entertaining the thought of getting a masters. I would really like to have the chance to pursue it but don't want to unless i need it or would directly benefit me (but how could it not?).

I graduate with my bachelors in May, but I'm tempted to go for either my Masters or PhD in Finance.

A Masters is stupid easy nowadays to get, at least thats the word on the street. The way the head of the Biochemistry college explained it is that people who get a masters are usually just the people who failed at getting a Ph.D (no offense to you).

So now they're pretty damn easy to get.

I love my research, and the extra cash for just basically doing tests all the time.

spike_africa 10-22-2009 03:34 PM

My buddy is working on his masters in electrical mechanical engineering and he says its no harder then undergrad at all. And I didn't think undergrad was very hard. If you did some work and studied you can do well. That's how I did it.
