F&F.. Something has been bugging me.

So.. this has been bugging he hell out of me. In the fast and furious movies, especially the first and last, there is usually a race, and at one point somone hits the NAWWWWZ.

The other guy, usually paul walker, cool as a cucumber, says something along the lines of "You sprayed too soon"

Correct me if im wrong here, cause i have never used Nitrous,

But if im at the strip, and i have nitrous, im gonna use a window switch and a WOT trigger, when it turns green im pretty much gonna spray that motherfucker the whole way down the goddamn track.

Hell a 10lb bottle is good for several runs right?

How much NAAAAWZ do they have in thier can? a fucking ounce?

its like they have a single shot that they can spray for 5 seconds and they are fucking through

AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE?

Switch 08-20-2009 07:38 PM

Haha I never thought about it, but you're right. It should last for at least 10-12 quarter mile runs on a 100 shot, so that's a lot more than the 5 seconds they seem to be spraying.

engineman312 08-20-2009 07:39 PM

you're right. thats not how naaaaaaaawwwwwwwzzzzzzzz works. its just a movie thing, like in the video games.

01FR500 08-20-2009 07:48 PM

Do the Fast and Furious movies have anything technical in them that is correct? I assume that all I see in those movies are irrational and false, worked so far.

whitestang04 08-20-2009 08:21 PM

Its because they only have a few 12 oz bottles hidden in the passenger seat LOL. The only way you are using nitrous too soon is if you aren't over 3k RPM yet.

Badfish 08-21-2009 12:15 AM

Watch out. If you spray the nawz too much you'll blow out your passenger side floor panel.

SnTBakosFinest 08-21-2009 12:39 AM

Lol the only the thats correct is it can be dangerous to the intake manifold... how they have a computer to tell that is beyond me.

But no, I launch my car with the nitrous on, and it stays on until I pass the finish line. Nitrous = more torque regardless, you want torque at the launch...

you mean your intake manifold is not riddled with heat and pressure sensors that relay the information to a real time onboard display complete with graphics and warning lights?

jesus mang, get with the times.

LOL

mustangV6_04 08-21-2009 02:29 PM

lolz at momentary nitrous buttons

plus the subaru in the 4th when it crashes has no drivetrain in it

INtZ 08-21-2009 03:10 PM

yeah they pull the driveshaft and probably did something with the frount cv's so they can pull it with a cable without it dragging

mustangvsix 08-21-2009 04:34 PM

nah man it's just that they run a 1000hp shot, so that 10lb bottle disappears fast, hence the DANGER TO THE MANIFOLD!!! lol.

I guess it gives away how fast their car really is? and the other person if they are faster can beat them knowing this? I have no real answer for that one.

TUFF 4.6 08-21-2009 06:24 PM

F&F movies SUCK, all ever how many that is. The last one with the Shitvelle and the 8-71 blower running tho the desert and the tunnels with all that dust! Yea Right:confused:

rkaz 08-21-2009 07:05 PM

I love the fact that it takes them like 15 minutes to run 1/4 mile. There tearing it up for sure.

Hondas and Mitsushitties DO take that long. With the exception of a few, fine.

Steeda21 08-22-2009 09:54 PM

How much do you think that set them back? 1 million? lol hollywood makes too much goddamn money

And the only thing that I've noticed that is REAL in the movies is when they decide for whatever reason to blow up a car via the nitrous bottle..

Not sure how exactly that worked out in the first movie, those asians on bikes emptied their uzzi clips into the car. Emptying an uzzi into the car wouldn't blow it up.. Yeah a few bullets might penetrate the fuel tank or even the nawz bottle, but what ignites it?

The fourth movie was pretty cool when Vin made a timebomb out of his nos bottle and cig lighter, maybe he's going to audition for a new MacGyver series..

That would not work nitrous is not flamable

Oddly enough you can light a car on fire with just bullets (wtih no gas in the tank or nitrous bottles or tannerite cans or anything). I've done it.

What you do is take a GE M60A1 vulcan or in my case a M134 and spray 3000 rounds a minute (well... the battery runs out after the first can or 2 of ammo so figure 1500-2000 rounds on target) at any old car. The heat of all the impacts alone and the spall (flying liquified or aerosolized molten metal) in the air will ignite and the car will start to burn. For a real giggle find a car with an aluminum engine block and focus your fury there. The aluminum helps with the burn when it starts to turn to dust. Note be VERY far away. There will be epic numbers of bullets that return at least part of the way. Shooting at metal with non-AP FMJ rounds is risky that way.

Nope, you just gotta be Vin Diesel.

I know, I was just saying it was cool :D

P.S. It may not be flammable but it is a powerful oxidizer :) but you probably already knew that
