So last summers shorts didn't fit...

A couple weeks ago while I was still at school it was warm out so I decided to throw on some cargo shorts from the previous summer. One problem. THEY DIDN'T FIT.

Cafe food + beer = me 14 pounds heavier!!!

So it's been 17 days of me dieting, weight lifting, running, pad/bag work, and doing the total gym (yes, the one with Chuck Norris), and I've lost 8 pounds already.

I'm up to running 1.25 miles a day on the treadmilll and plan on moving it up.

Worthless thread, but I haven't felt this good since high school.

NewMustangMan 05-27-2009 11:10 AM

Good for you man!
I have been going to the Gym for about 2 months straight now after work. Just graduated college to so I can focus even more on getting in shape!

Black Sunshine 05-27-2009 11:33 AM

That's awesome, man. :) Props to you for commiting to it.

I get my exercise while walking to the fridge and back. My weightlifting sessions are called 'lifting a big, greasy 1lb cheeseburger to my mouth'. :D

PistonsFan102 05-27-2009 12:35 PM

The hardest part is dieting. I'm so used to eating cookies and ice cream all time. But I'm so far in to my diet that it so much easier to pass up eating junk food.

I've always worked out for months at a time, but school or work would always force me to quit.

My dad got the p90x for his birthday, but I'm only going to use the "ab ripper" disc.

King 05-27-2009 12:50 PM

haha, that's cool that you're committing to this though.

jseven 05-27-2009 01:14 PM

I hate working out for a few months, then stopping for a few weeks, and having to start again. I just started again and I want to make this a strict routine..haha

what keeps you motivated?

.

I hear you on the keeping with the gym thing. as you get older it just gets harder cause you seem to have less time, especiall with kids.

once you hit your 30's it is almost twice as hard to get weight off. lol.

i dieted and worked out when i was 24, i lost 25 lbs in 6 months.

I started dieting and working out 6 months ago, and ive lost 10lbs.

this time around i had to nail my diet down real tight. I try to look at food as an energy source rather than entertainment. lol.

Im down to 4-5 pieces of fruit a day, 1-2 V8 veggie juices, 1-2 protien shakes, and 2 grilled chicken breasts. That is my diet monday through friday. Saturday and sunday i dont try as hard cause it sucks eating a chicken breast while my wife eats a big hamburger. lol.

so far the diet has made the biggest difference.

gettin old sucks. lol

I was the same way.

My motivations...

1) my brother who is 17 is stronger than me for the first time
2) i work out with a friend and my brother (having a partner is is crucial for me)
3) the beach this summer. I'm headed to the cottage for the first time July 4th weekend
4) seeing results. Once you see them you want it even more.

PureStang 05-27-2009 04:32 PM

i hear ya....i gained 25lbs in my freshman year alone. 10 lbs in my sophomore year. Cafeteria food + A LOT OF PARTYING + late hours = 35 lbs in 2 years.

i have lost 10 lbs in the last 2 week because of lack of food consumption due to my wisdom teeth removal. next week im gonna start my p90x routine i am hoping, as long as there are no more complications with my mouth (infection at this point, i had 2 dry sockets already).

2 years ago i weighed 200lbs @ about 17% body fat, and 4 years ago i weighed 175 @ 10%. growth + wrestling injury got me to my 200lbs weight..then school started.

my goal is to get to 195 - 200lbs @ 15% bf..i dont wanna be ripped, i just wanna get stronger and be able to not have to worry about my gut anymore.

p.s. im 21 so i should have a fun time with this...

01FR500 05-27-2009 05:59 PM

I always gain a little weight when I am living with my girlfriend due to her cooking and she likes to eat out. But when I say a little weight, I mean 5-8 pounds, so nothing major but I only weigh 150-155 @ 5'7" ~15%BF. So 5-8 pounds is slightly noticable. I always loose weight durring the summer and while living at home because I have more room to go outside and do work around the house. Last summer while working two jobs one of which was outside work, I was down to 145lbs and was in my best shape since I played football in highschool. The odd thing for me is I never gained weight when I went into college, no freshman fifteen or any of that. 150-155 is where it's at for me. I should start working out just to see what would happen.

Take pictures of when you do it. I've always wanted to see my transformation, but I never take photos for some reason.

I'm 5' 10" and I want to be at 155. When I stepped on the scale and saw 170 I was in shock.

Leonide 05-27-2009 07:02 PM

i need to start working out. i am still 170 though... (i'm 6 foot 1.). can't explain it... i don't gain weight. <.<

Slim03GT 05-27-2009 07:14 PM

Good luck with the process mang. It seems like hard work at first but after awhile it becomes a habit and you'll feel alot better. Keep us updated

haha..your a good 1.5" taller than me.....its funny how someone shorter can weigh more than someone taller and still look proportional....maybe its cause i have a semi built lower body and a built(ish) upper.

Switch 05-27-2009 08:44 PM

I gained two lbs last week. Hopefully I'll gain two more this week. Trying to hit 170 by the end of the year. (147 now)

Jesus dude I'm just a hair over 6' and I weight 220. So you must be really skinny.

I love going to the gym and doing work. It really helps to have someone to go with to motivate you and keep at it. I have been going for 5 years now. I lost 25 pounds of fat and now I packing 20 pounds of muscle. Takes forever to get bigger, but its fun if you know what your doing and see results.

The best thing is that I actully eat more then I used too, just I eat healthy foods and I eat 5-6 times a day instead of 2-3.

Dude, if your 5' 10" @ 170, you shouldn't worry too much about losing weight. Just because your shorts didn't fit, they may have shrank some.

I'm a little over 5' 9" and weigh in @ 180 for the first time in the last 3 years. I usually weigh about 175 and I'll be back to that once I start sweating on the concrete floor at work. If I ever get lower than 170 I would worry that something is wrong.. Geez I work with guys my height who weigh 200 to 220+. BTW I weighed 155 in the 9th grade at my same height.

That was when I was 15 years old.. I'm 49 now.. ;). and I can eat anything from 2 Bacon Cheesburgers and fries to a big bowl of rocky road ice cream and not worry bout weight gain.. :smokin:

King 05-28-2009 12:02 AM

Since we're just tossing numbers around -- I'm 6'5'' at 255lbs....

Damn you need to get a pic of yourself standing next to your mach1. How do you fit in there. LOL, JK..:p

HokieStang00 05-28-2009 04:42 AM

Careful with P90x purestang..had a buddy do it for a for a week or two and ended up in the hospital with a heart condition. It's hard for your body to go from years of nothing to a hardcore workout like that.

Lazerred6 05-28-2009 04:55 AM

I need to start running again I used to do cross country in high school and I wasn't as fast as some of the people but I could run for miles without any trouble then I got married and I doubt I could to 2 miles in my current condition. Not that I weigh alot I just don't have the stamina I used to

i'm 5'11" 165lbs

Dodobird223 05-28-2009 05:20 AM

I have been working out for a year and a half. I run two miles every day and lift weights every other (I lift every day, mon/weds/fri arms tues/thurs/sat are legs) And on sundays I take a 15 mile bike ride. A year and a half ago I was 225 pounds, and today I weigh 180 flat. 6' btw.

You pretty much need to already be somewhat in fit to start the p90x, lol. They never tell you that part.

Well, I had a gut. I wouldn't mind if I was 170 muscle, but I'm not........yet, lol. :D

Not seeing any chicks in this thread :)

Black Sunshine 05-28-2009 06:44 AM

King, you'd make me look like a midget. You're 1' 2" taller than I am, haha.

spike_africa 05-28-2009 07:08 AM
