Deputy

I just download mine, just as good as a DvD and I can even burn it. But I don't have all the extra features.

Wouldn't this technically count as spam? I'm not flagging it, but I was definitely considering it.

01FR500 04-04-2009 05:40 PM

Thanks. It looks pretty legit, good quality on the video I'm on right now.

Really? Or are you joking? There is a big difference from someone sharing a good website with us and some one trying to sell us stuff.

King 04-04-2009 05:46 PM

Yes I'm serious, but I'm not saying it in a "I like to flag posts so I'll flag anything I want to" kind of way....I meant is under the definition of spam (in forum context), wouldn't this count? Creating a thread meant to spark interest in a 3rd party site....

Just thought it'd be a nice conversation starter, that's all.

Who?

There is no one that posted that is a spammer or close to it.

King 04-04-2009 06:28 PM

In all technicality deputy would be the spammer (sort of) because what he did was post a link meant to spark interest in a 3rd party site that in no way is related to this site.

The only difference I see between deputy's post and that of the typical spammer would be that for one, his link was not malicious and two he has been around for a while.
I just figured I could use this opportunity to spark interest in the technical definition of spam.

j_gutta870 04-04-2009 06:47 PM

is the wolverine movie finished? the site that i use for free movies had one up but the comments say that the special effects weren't finished and could see wires and strings and stuff everywhere...

King 04-04-2009 06:54 PM

I heard it's finished. There was a big story on the news about how the HD version got leaked online...now it's under investigation.

I just didn't see it as spam in any way, so I thought it odd that you pointed out that it could be flagged as spam. I started a thread a while back in which I included a link to an online automotive magazine that a guy that I race with writes for. He gets cars sent to his house, test drives them, then writes reviews. He even brought a new Viper to an autocross event in Feb. that he let me ride in. Now, since that has nothing to so with this website, under your definition, I would be a spammer. It's just that there has to be discretion between actual spam and someone sharing a website that some people may be interested in. I don't think Deputy had any intention of spamming, nor did he. So I think it was sort of rude (or unnecessary) to make a deal about his thread being spam.

And I just watched the X-men movie, the graphics are not finished at all.

j_gutta870 04-04-2009 08:14 PM

thats good to know...... i'll just wait until it comes out

Switch 04-04-2009 09:17 PM

I didn't see it as spam at all. If you consider this spam, you might as well consider any link posted as spam.

deputy2313 04-05-2009 01:10 PM

yeah i figured king might would say something, and i understand what hes saying as i was relcutant to post but said fuck it and did it anyway. just thought id share

king is anti-fun

King 04-05-2009 01:27 PM

Thanks for your completely useless criticism.

Anyway, the reason I do this is because if a new member had made this post, someone would have flagged it as spam and it would be deleted and the new member banned.

deputy2313 04-05-2009 01:32 PM

its all good im not worried about it. i actually did contemplate whether or not to post because i thought of it as spam. but still something that people could use.

King 04-05-2009 01:33 PM

It's cool. I figured I haven't stirred the flag-pot much since the site update, so I thought it would be nice to give it a shot again.

haha glad my thread could have been of use ;)

PistonsFan102 04-05-2009 02:23 PM

Free movies FTW. At my movie theater it costs $10.50 to see a fucking movie on the weekend!
(note our theater has an amazing 30 screens and movies constanly playing, but damn)

Only new members who don't contribute and post links would be classified as spam in my book.

deputy2313 04-05-2009 02:49 PM

DAMN 30 screens!!! ours has 14 but its $10 after 3pm before it is 7.50 haha

01FR500 04-05-2009 04:49 PM

I just don't want people to not want to share interesting or helpful stuff. But of course, new and un contributory (sp?) member just posting crap, there really is no other way than to flag it.

mustangV6_04 04-06-2009 07:05 PM

yeah i use hulu a lot. A buddy of mine told me to check out a show they have called "Dorm Life". Its a comedy and you get a couple good laughs out of some of the episodes. Each one is only about 5-10min long so they're good if you have a little down time but don't have 30min-1hour

There is a difference between spammer and general dumbass. Anyway, where are your getting your torrents from? A lot of the movie torrents are mostly peers and just a couple of seeds.
