Post up your computer monitors!!!!!!!!
So i am in the market for a new monitor for school. the one i use is a crappy acer 19" that i bought last year. I have been using it and every moment i absolutely hate it. lol. so i decided to put out some decent money and get a nice monitor.
19" Acer LCD 1440x900 Matte Screen the LCD im looking at is a Gateway 22" HD LCD 1680x1050 2000:1 contrast 2 ms r/t and the most important thing i look for in a monitor (now) is that it has HDMI cause i can hook either my computer and my xbox to my monitor very key when you have a roomate that watches ESPN 24/7 lol oh, and this is running off of my Dell M1330 laptop. |

My control center; HP 20" LCD and an LG 42" 720p Plasma :)
Attachment 20259 |
For computer monitors viewsonic is one of the best brands you can buy. NEVER EVER EVER buy a Gateway/HP/Dell/Acer monitor, they all suck ass. I don't know how many people I tell at work everyday that those computer monitors suck. The only reason they're even made is for bundle packages with desktops, they're why over priced for what they are by themselves. My computer monitor has a 10,000:1 contrast ratio with a 2ms response time and a 120hz refresh rate and only cost me $220 for a 22". That's paying retail, no employee discount.
Just a fare-warning.....you can take it or leave it. |
I have a 21" Optiquest CRT monitor, as I play alot of PC simulation games. Its big and bulky, but does good at gaming. I just got a new computer, and gave my son the old one. It came with a 19" flatscreen, and I gave it to him and kept my old one.

either 19 or 20 inch widescreen Asus LCD monitor. 1440x900 resolution. :)

Depending on which model you get it does have a gloss screen. Mine has the glossy type screen and I love it, so i agree with you there. If my monitor wasn't for a good price I wouldn't have got it, because I do play gaming, but honestly a monitor can never compare to hooking it up to a 42" (Badfish isn't the only one haha).
Hope you like it man. |
I have this nice Samsung 19" wide screen setup.

crappy crappy crappy AcerView 76E for my winamp and other misc. stuff... and my Sony Trinitron GDM-FW900 24" Attachment 20258 and when i move my stuff to the basement (for movies and such) its a 46" LCD and a small like 15" monitor for everything else i don't want on the big screen.. but both of my screens are bulky... for a flat screen i would get around a 20" lcd... |

I have a graphic design degree, so I only use Apple/Mac products.
New Imac 24" Screen http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...nGT99/imac.jpg |
Ok yellowstang here's a question for you. For graphic design would you get a Mac or a PC??? Either way I'm going to partition and run both, but which is better. Everyone I ask gives me mixed opinions.
And lol at the studio set-up....that's a lot of monitors and expensive ass equipment. |
i dunno i have a 20inch widescreen dell monitor that came with my computer. It works fine, ive never had any issues with it, and i could care less as long as it works, which it does.
lol. then again, i dont do any gaming on my PC. Nor do i watch movies or antyhing. I have a HD plasma upstairs for all that, and an xbox. i fucking hate computers. all i ever do with mine is manage my photos and shit. |
i got my Gateway today and all i can say is that it is pretty amazing. i watched a lil tv and played xbox on it and it looks great.
the computer looks good too! oh, and i bought the monitor cause a) i wanted a bigger monitor and b) my roommate always watches tv and this way i can play xbox without interrupting him. lol. and i can watch tv and play xbox too lol |

AMD has had Hyperthreading for a LOOONG time. Intel has JUST got into the Hyperthreading game. AMD> Intel |
Lol yea right. Intel kills AMD. Just because AMD had it first doesn't mean they're better at it. Once you Hyperthread the AMD the heat it puts out jumps up to like 45-50 degrees. Compared to the hyperthreaded Intel running at 32 degrees. Intel has always outperformed Intel, AMD is just cheap. The AMD processors suck when you try to overclock them, you might get MAYBE a small increase but nothing like you could with the Intel.
|
actually AMD processors got screwed over. Intel 'stole' the hyperthreading tech. lol and AMD's usually run ALOT cooler than intel. thats why a lot of gaming pc's i have ever built used AMD's

oh and for a quick thinker.. AMD vs Intel is like Windows vs. Linux. Windows and Intel think they can do everything so they try to, and it slows them down alot. while AMD and Linux only do what you ask them to do.. like if you put on a stock windows (let say xp because vista is a hog) vs Ubuntu from Linux which is more elaborate like vista. Windows will come with all this junk that most of us won't use, while Linux is simple and sweet. same with intel and amd, amd is just simple and sweet. |

AMD has ALWAYS run cooler that Intel, they've been the first to develop most new technologies for processing chips. Overclocking is way overdone, most people just do it because they can. I've never had any reason to overclock an AMD processor and I've run huge programs like 3DSMAX 5 simultaneously with Paint shop and another rendering program, All of that on an 64bit X2 3800+. The Intel Vs. AMD debate is similar to the Mac Vs. PC except there's a clear winner in this one. AMD. Period. |
thanks wnracing!! lol. the only reason i got an Intel is because that is the only processor available for my model.
|
Really? I've tested over twenty different computers and in every single case the intel outperformed the similarly priced AMD. Using 3dMark and a bunch of other programs the Intel came out on top. As for the overclocking I have never heard of an Intel melting the cores. I'm not trying to start a fight but I have never had an Intel that has failed compared to two bad experiences with AMDs, but this was a while ago too. I'm not bashing AMD I just don't like them and from what I've experienced I'd prefer an Intel over an AMD.
