Which color for my Engine Block?

ok since my block is out, the shop that is doin my engine rebuild said that they could paint the block any color i want :D

So i was thinking red or black?

Because wat im gonna do is paint the valve covers/intake/upper & lower intake manifold black since my engine has all these different kinds of red all over it. So i think black is just the right one to go with these items.

This is how my engine looks (not right now though since its torn apart)

Just picture the valve covers/CAI/upper & lower manifold paint "black" but of course i cant get rid of the red spark plug wires

So do yall think it will look cool if i paint them black instead of having them red?

But yet on the other hand i was thinking about oil leaks and how i wont be able to see it if my engine block is painted black

Go with black

Havokk 11-07-2008 09:36 AM

Definitely Black.

Wombozi17 11-07-2008 09:55 AM

Black for sure

Stephen4036 11-07-2008 09:58 AM

black = cleaner looking

Black

Black, I'm sorry but that intake looks hideous in red. Some color accents are fine, but man that big 'ol red intake is just ugly.

Fail, Black= can't see any oil leaks. But it seems alot of people are going with black blocks lately. Ford blue is what it should be if you ask me. Just as long as its not chevy orange its all good.

JackThe Ripper 11-07-2008 04:59 PM

I agree with spike 100%

ford blue. There is something nice about being able to see the engine, if it is all black it all just runs together and looks like a fucking mess.

Paint it Obama black. Do half of it white, and the other half a muslim/hawaiin/socialist/black/brownish color.

Ford Blue and repaint all the accents that are now red with Ford blue.

98mustangv6 11-08-2008 03:10 PM

deff the blue even though black would kinda look good too but im going to paint mine blue while i rebuild it. yeah i dont really care for the red though lol

King 11-08-2008 03:22 PM

Ford Blue definitely takes the win here.

3.8LMustang 11-10-2008 06:38 AM

ya spike is right about the oil leak as i also too said that i wouldnt be able to see oil leaks.

The CAI is also going to be painted black.

And maybe ill paint the block blue, have the other stuff black and keep the spark plug wires. Thus ill have a red, black, blue

hahaha just like the colors on the flag instead i have black since we have a new pres. lol

its not red, white, blue..... Now its red, black, blue, lol jk

So yall, blue block with black valve covers/black upper & lower intake manifold/black CAI?

Wat do yall think?

spike_africa 11-10-2008 06:57 AM

Sounds better then the red bro. Though I like the look of the metal of intake manifolds.

3.8LMustang 11-10-2008 07:18 AM

ya i think ill only do the block red and just paint my CAI black and my valve covers black too

And do u mean u like the intake manifold the way they are as in the grayish looking color or are you saying i should paint em black?

there are alot of people that voted black but that will be a bad thing in the long run

mustangvsix 11-10-2008 01:42 PM

Do all of the components black( anything that is red now, go to black) and do the block in ford blue. Then accent any pieces by polishing them/not painting them( such as the lettering on the upper intake)

edit: Take a look at this thread on SVTP

I know it's not V6 motors, but it gives you an idea of different color combos that work well...and a chance to drool at some amazing motors!

You need silver.

King 11-12-2008 06:12 PM

Agreed. Silver on Blue looks MUCH better than black on blue. Looks cleaner too

spike_africa 11-12-2008 06:17 PM

Blue block, regular unpainted manifolds and silver valve covers would loook very nice............................with split port heads.
