My Paint Got F'd in the A
 

Long story. :mad::mad::mad:

I just found out today that the paint company that the apartment complex that I live in got tons of overspray over the entire car when they painted this week and last. Since I'm on Fall Break I came home and woke up early today to clean the stang since I don't have a place/time to do it at school. Well as soon as I get all the loose surface dirt off I start to notice what looks like pits in the paint. I was devestated, the paint is/was close to perfect, when clean. After washing I investigate it a little more and am already suspecting that it is overspray from when they painted. I used an old claybar on one small spot and it starts to come off. I'd rather it be oversrap than pits on the paint becuase you can't really fix pits. What makes me trmendiously mad is that I moved my car to where they said it would be safe from overspray the entire time they were painting. If they even said there was a chance that I would get paint on the car I would have parked it across town. Just pisses me off. So now I am outside spending my fall break getting overspray off the car, I guess not the worst way to spend some time. I went and got a new clay bar kit and some more glazes and wax. Hopefully It will come out looking better than ever.

They apartment mangment put notes on our door to remind us to move our cars and that they were not responsible for paint getting on cars. But since I moved my car and still got paint on it I think they should pay to have the overspray removed. IDK if I can pursue that and still be in the right or not. My girlfriends car probably has overspray on it too.


Cliff notes: My car got overspray on it when it shouldn't have and now it looks horrible. Maybe I will post some pictures later.

I don't know if you could pursue that or not. I think your best chance is to talk to others in the apartment and see if they have paint overspray, too. The more people you can get in with your complaint, the better. That way, they can't single you out by saying that you 'must not have moved your car'. Walk around and take pictures of your car and everyone else's that have paint overspray. Make sure you get pictures of license plates, that way they can track down the owners. Just do what you can that way if you do have to go to war, you'll have bullets instead of BB's.

just because they say "we're not responsible for overspray on your car" in a letter they leave on the door it doesn't mean shit. it's their property and they're responsible for what happens/the actions of their contractors.

i cant just walk down the street handing people pieces of paper saying "im not responsible if i punch you in the face" and then expect them to be happy campers after i knock their jaw off.

All good advice. When I get back I will go around and ask people if they have overspray on thier cars. I know if my car got some on it where I was parked then others did too. I am almost half-way done caly baring, my hand is starting to cramp up. I don't know how much surface area my Mustang has but by the time I'm done I will have touched every single sqaure inch. I took some pictures of it too.

Took time to talk to the apartment management yesterday. They refered me to someone at the central office and now I have to e-mail them pictures of the paint on the car. I don't know what they are going to do about it now since I got it all off. It's still on the plastics and ruber, any tips on how to get that off? So maybe they will do the right thing and try to correct a wrong, or atleast make the painting company do something. I'm not sure which one of them is at fault. It took roughly 5-6 hours to claybar the car, and I am going to use cleaner wax, glaze, wax. on it today.

When it happen to me I think I also clayed the rubber parts but cant remember exactly.

That sucks man. The apt complex a couple miles down the road from mine was re-painting all there stuff and they had the paint company cover everyones' vehicle every day in plastic wrap to make sure this wouldn't happen. I know I would be royally pissed. But it sounds like it will come off with out too many problems, so I guess that is good.
