Hey Photoshop guru's...

Wow so yeah, CS3 is pretty sweet and i got a ton of shit to learn.

got a question though for those of you that do HDR.

how the hell do i save the goddamn pic as a Jpeg? all it lets me do are TIFF and a bunch of other file formats ive never heared of.

Im lost in trying to figure this out.

thanks!

Badfish 09-30-2008 05:21 PM

go to the Layer menu at the top...scroll down and click flatten image. That's IF it's simply multi layered. if you are trying to convert a RAW image to jpg...it's a whole complicated process. google "how to convert RAW images to jpeg in Cs3"

Stephen4036 09-30-2008 05:21 PM

are you having trouble converting while your working? or when your saving?

JackThe Ripper 09-30-2008 05:39 PM

when im saving.

im total newb on photoshop.

not working on RAW. So far im just taking Jpgs, but now i have something that takes raw ill have to do it.

so flatten image. Got it!

ill give it a shot tonight after work.

Stephen4036 09-30-2008 07:49 PM

naa dude, i tried that.

it works with files that are already jpeg, but i guess when layering you gotta flatten it out or it doesent give you a jpg selection. ill mess with it when i get home

Acttacus 09-30-2008 10:13 PM

Shift+Ctrl+E -> Ctrl+A -> Ctrl+C -> Ctrl+N -> Ctrl+V -> Shift+Ctrl+S -> Jpeg -> Enter ->Ctrl+Q

Done;)

King 09-30-2008 10:57 PM

Hmm...weird, I'm using CS3 and even in layered images I can select JPEG. Then it flattens it for me. Sorry that I'm no help, I just find it strange that in all of the Photoshops I've used (7, CS1, CS2, CS3) I've never had that problem. Same with PSP X2. I'm curious why it is that I'm not having that problem.

Acttacus 09-30-2008 11:18 PM

Well I'm definitely no expert, but from past experience I found that if opening some file formats such as .raw or .png, CS3 doesn't allow you to save as .jpeg, so I just copy the whole image and past into a new worksheet, and then it'll allow you to save as any format you want, including .jpeg.

LOL. it works.

Stephen4036 09-30-2008 11:38 PM

it does ?

Badfish 09-30-2008 11:41 PM

try it.

Stephen4036 09-30-2008 11:49 PM

is that for restorizing a layer? i just opened cs3 and starting ctrl al deleting lol .

Acttacus 10-01-2008 12:16 AM

haha:D

All the short cuts pretty much just means to copy and past the entire image into a fresh photoshop worksheet and saving it as .jpeg. nothing special. Its quite useful for working with weird image formats, especially some formats like .gif which you can't do some of the layering effects. Working in .psd and then saving to other formats make things alot easier.

INtZ 10-01-2008 04:59 AM

why dont you just try opening it with ms paint and then saving it as a jpeg

00blkstanggt 10-01-2008 08:14 AM

If you are creating a HDR in photoshop, you will need to change the image to 8 bits I believe before you can save it as a jpeg.

JackThe Ripper 10-01-2008 01:37 PM

8 bits huh?

ill try that as well.

Diddnt get around to trying it last night, ended up watching the new episode of House on TIVO and trying to take pics of the night sky

then this morning i finally beat Lost Oddessy on 360 and that took damn near untill i had to leave to work. lol

King 10-01-2008 03:20 PM

Was it any good? I wanted to see it but I was working.

I think KING is everyone's favorite character in tekken. Man, it's been too long since I've played that series...maybe that's what I'll do today. I've been spending so much time on my computer the last week since I got the CS3 trial trying to remember how to use it, I guess I could use a break.

Badfish 10-01-2008 09:05 PM

because King RAPES

King 10-02-2008 08:30 AM

You know, some noob is going to read this wrong and is going to hold this over my head forever, saying "King is a rapist!"...lol

JackThe Ripper 10-02-2008 01:53 PM

ill dig yup a yourtube instructional video soon and try that

i can save normal jpg's as jpgs, the only thing i cant save as jpg is the HDR
