Mustang Boards - My attempt to get some gas today..

This is how it went when I left my house to get some gas, around 2:30. You won't understand the road names but it helps me tell it..

So I went out to fill the car up, knowing that most places would be busy, but oh well. I passed tom thumb at first because they were crowded as hell and most pumps were bagged, so I went to go to walmart instead. On the way there there had been a wreck at an intersection, so I had to detour from there to get back on path. I finally get to walmart about hitting every red light possible on 9th avenue having some a-hole almost hit me. I'm behind about 2 cars in line, luckily for me my gas door is on the right which isn't as common so I was able to drive in and take the pump before the other people could back into it. I get out, put the card in, choose the grade etc etc start pumping. Nothing happens, I can't hear any gas coming out or feel anything, looking at the little LCD display on the pump said nothing was being pumped. I still had some patience at this point so I just calmly hit the 'cancel' button, and it printed out a receipt saying I bought $10 worth of gas. I was pretty sure I got no gas but I said screw it and left because today had been a good day so far. So I have to back out from the pump and end up doing a 6 point turn in the mustang which has the turning radius of the Titanic because of the chaos and general asshattery of the cars waiting to get gas, by blocking the way out.

As I'm trying to exit the walmart gas station there is a line of cars from the parking lot road trying to get in, so I am blocked in the exit, a one way street, on both sides. So I sit there and melt for a while and honked at the old guy that was blocking the intersection so maybe he would be considerate enough to move up the 3 or 4 feet needed so I could get out. I REALLY wanted to get out of the car ask him to move but said F it and waited. He finally realized the backup he was causing about 5 minutes later, and I got out of the walmart hell hole. Then I decided I'd go back to the station near my house (where I know it'd be packed anyway) So on the way back I turn left from 9th avenue onto airport, forgetting that there was that accident there a while ago. I get there and remember that and kind of thought 'aww shit' well no one could make a right turn. So I waited until the area was clear and did a U turn, went back down 12th, took a left into the mall service road where I ended up being behind some stupid girl in her new black convertible mustang going the 15mph speed limit on the service road. Seriously, who drives 15mph on that road? She was probably just cruising singing to her favorite Brittany spears song and not even paying attention to WTF she was doing. I wanted to pass her but there were a lot of cars on the road and there's always some cops sitting in the parking lot. Then I get to bayou and finally make it back to summit, on my way to the station. I get to the gas station where there is only about 1 car at each pump, so I was kind of happy that I'd be in and out. Got behind some land rover that was at the pump, a few seconds later I realized that none of the cars at the pumps, had people at them. They were all inside the store. I have this pet peeve of people who leave their cars at pumps after they get gas and then go into the stores. If you could please just MOVE your car after you get gas, if I drove an old beat up truck I'd probably just push their cars out of the way.

About that same time I saw the 89 and 93 oct pumps were bagged, and then wondering why is this land rover sitting here, surely something as fancy as an overpriced ford-made (now Indian) SUV doesn't run on mere peasant-grade 87 octane, so this guy is pretty much wasting his, and my, time. He gets back outside and goes to his car, unlocks his gas cap with his gay little land-rover gas cap key, and then starts talking to someone on his phone while looking at the pump. I guess this is where he realized that his overpriced, hyped up, jackassmobile SUV needs higher octane fuel, and he looked kind of pissed.

I couldn't hear what he was saying because of the music but he was probably saying something like

"Dude they have no FUCKING gas for my land rover dude, I'm going to have this place closed down for this inconvenience, fuckin' skanks! Check out my new fuckin haircut!" Then he hung up his phone, put his gas cap back on, locked it, and drove off.

I could FINALLY get some gas, pulled right up, put the card in, got the pump and put it in the car, pulled the trigger.

You've got to be shitting me.

I look around and it seems like the people around me are getting the gas, just the pump I waited 15 minutes at, no longer pumps gas. I could have just gone to another pump and waited another 30 minutes behind the rows of cars that were appearing, but instead I just got kind of pissed off.

So I canceled that and left

So now here I am, back home, supposedly I got $10.00 worth of gas, which would be about 2.8 gallons, but at I looked at my gas gauge, I have about 1/4 tank LESS than what I started off with.

So all I got out of this trip was a headache, some anger, minus some gas, and half of the ipod battery drained, and losing yet more faith in humanity. The entire thing took about 1 hour 30 minutes. It normally takes about 5 minutes to go get gas. I should mention that I hit every red light, EVERY red light.

I didn't even get a freakin' t-shirt.
