Default The health&fitness thread

I'm titling it this so other people can use it for their problems/concerns/bragging, anyway.

After playing football and running around a lot last Friday without stretching at all, and wearing flat-soled shoes, I've have a terrible burning sensations concentrated in the middle area of the front of my right thigh. It went away last Sunday but whenever I even start to lift up my leg to jog or run it comes back and hurts like a sonovabitch. I've taken advil and tried stretching but no dice, stretching it hurts like **** and there's only so much I can stretch it out without stopping from the pain. The pain worsens when bending the knee more and bringing the calf back, hurts while sitting, crouching, walking fast, getting up, lifting the leg, etc. It's making pretty much any physical activity rather unpleasant and is the reason I'm not at the beach right now on a sunny Thursday afternoon, rather here, typing this while my thigh feels like it's on fire.

Thoughts/suggestions? I don't really think I have to go seek a doctor for this.

sounds like a torn or strained muscle. use rice....rest, ice, compression and elevation for about a week. ice for 20 min on and 40 min off. if it doesn't get better after a week see a doc. if advil isn't working try some naproxen, some anti-inflammatories work better for different people. Hope u feel better.

Ive had a weird pain in my lower back for like 4 months now. Im going to the doctor tomarrow. I though i might of torn something from working out, but now after all this time to heal its still the same. Well maybe less pain but its still there and that isnt right.

You got a good bed? The wife and i had both been feeling like crap and been having side and back pains and never felt rested. We went out and got a sleep number bed, those things rawk. Im a 55. lol

Advertizement aside, it made a world of difference. make sure you got a decent bed.

Lol.. talking about pains...

About a month befor my 30th birthday my stomache started hurting. It just kept getting worse and worse, i saw a doctor, got an ultrasound, couldnt find anything. I tried thier stupid exercises and stretches and they diddnt help. So i got an upper endoscopy where they ram that rube down yer throat and everything looked good. However my stomache still hurt.

on a good day it felt like there was an icepick jammed into me, on bad days it felt like i swallowed a few bags of 4inch rusty nails.

Anyways, i got fed up with the co-pays and stuff and stopped going to the doctors since they dont know what the hell they are doing.

The pain continued for 3-4 more months and one day i went to the bathroom to go poop, and all of the sudden i had this massive pain in my ***, it felt like i was shitting out a mustang hood, one of the most painful things i have ever gone through, then finally i was done and everything was cool and ive been great ever since.

poop looked normal too. i couldnt fidgure it out. i went through 7 months of constant pain only to have a painful **** and be allright. You would think the doctors would have thought to think maybe jack was just suffering from some gastro intestinal difficulties.

The only doctors i have any faith in are my sons cardiologist and my sons surgeon. Other than that, they are a bunch of morons taking stabs in the dark.

So for the fitness part of the thread I for the first time got 4 45lb. plates on each side on my squats. I have been trying to do that for over a 2 years. My legs however will be sore for like 3 days lol.

To bump this, for the problem I was having when I created the thread, I did some running yesterday/last weekend and the pain is still there and really pissing me off now.It doesn't seem to stick around for long though, only when I start to jog/run and for a few minutes after I stop. I did stretch too, it's concentrated right in the thigh and makes running an absolute mother ****** of an experience (last night's case was running from the cops..lol) So what should I do?

#1 what were you doing running from the cops? ;x

And it could be something starting to tear..tbh I'd go get it checked out..normally its "wait and see what happens, if it continues, get it checked out"

You fall into the "get it checked out" type of thing..

Some classmates and I went to a local railroad bridge dubbed 'graffiti bridge' to spray some class stuff, it's a city landmark and recognized for the graffiti, and people are 'allowed' to put anything that isn't vulgar on it, but it is still technically illegal. As soon as we all turned to walk away down the sidewalk a cop drove by very slowly and look like he was going to turn around so we hauled *** out of there..lol

If I have 2 days a week when something doesn't hurt on my body I'm doing real good. I've got bursitis in my shoulder that flares up all the time. That can suck but I mostly ignore it. I used to get gout in my knee, big toe, and my ankle. Haven't had a gout attack since May of 07. ( take my pills if I notice it coming on).

My new problem is my fingers, and my hands are sore all the time. I'm guessing it's just arthritis, my hands go through hell at work and I'm always smacking them on something immovable. Same with my elbows, they take alot of abuse from solid steel objects.

My neck is screwed (according to my chiropractor). I learned how to adjust it by emulating him. I can't afford copay for a quick neck snap 3 times a week. All I have to do is keep adjusting till my neck is straight again. My back hurts sometimes but that is just overworked, (standing on concrete jungle 8 to 12 hours a day.)

And in closing, Goody's powders FTMFW. These things work great for pain. Just hope my stomach holds up.. For me a day with out more than 3 or 4 pains is a good day..
