I just posted a tread about this not to long ago and in 2 day it will be a month since I have lit up. I still get the occational craving but they are alot easier to ignore now. I don't know how much you used to smoke but for me it was about 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day when I quit and had been smoking for about 5 years. the really bad cravings last for about 2 weeks. I dealt with them by chewing gum (not the nicoret crap just regular gum) it takes work but it is worth it my friend good luck.

I quit cold turkey and didnt even plan on it. I was smoking a cig one night omw home from work and I got half way through it thought.... "this tastes nasty as hell". So I threw that smoke out the window right there. I got home and thought about smoking one and thought nahh that last one tasted like shit. So I went to bed and got up the next day and reached for the pack. I just thought to myself... "hell I didnt have one for 3 hours last night. I can go a lil while longer." After I made myself keep waiting that whole day, the next day figured I would smoke anymore... hell I went a whole day w/o one. I must admit the first 3 or 4 days is the hardest. after that its a breeze. All ya gotta do then is keep yourself from automaticly reaching for em out of habit. I stayed a nonsmoker for over a year.... then it happened. I got drunk one night... WAY DRUNK... and told a buddy "Hey pass me one of them Marlborrows this way." That was almost 10 years ago. I hqave been smoking ever since. I have tried to do that again.. quitting cold" but I havnt made it pass the first day. I know when I make it by the first day.. im done. I will get there one day... Or die trying LOL.

Another word of advice

Try to keep the places you would normally buy cigarettes from out of you day. My example is gas stations. I used to by my cigs inside the gas station with cash so now I always pay at the pump with a card I never even step inside a gas station.

My girl is attempting to quit. She is taking Chantix, that new drug that makes you basically sick everytime you smoke after the medicine builds up in your system. If it works for her, im gonna try it too. It also makes cigs taste really horrible.

Smoked 2 packs of marlborough reds a day for 10 years and quit cold turkey 15 years ago. I had help though, I was pregnant. That didn't curve the cravings just added motivation. I still get cravings to this day and nursing school hasn't helped. I jump off the wagon once a year during a weekend retreat with my girlfriends when we all drink wine, smoke, eat and man bash for 3 days.

When my cravings were the worst I would brush my teeth. Sounds weird but it really worked.

Good Luck. It will really pay off.
