is the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter worth it??? Im contemplating getting one, and i want to know how much of a difference to you did it make?

My brother got the UPR shifter and it was cheaper and shifts are shorter than my steeda one.

Thats interesting, the UPR is only $100 too.

GET ONE! It doesnt matter, triax, or upr, they are close to the same, but GET ONE as soon as possible. They make so much difference in how your car feels just driving it. Its awesome.

I have it, and it was an easy install on my 02, and transormed the shifts (shorter, firmer, no missed third gears, etc.). I like it!

Don't buy upr! Anyone in the mustang world knows upr is crap! Not to mention the customer care is among the best!..all upr does is copy somone elses product and slaps their name on it! Thats how they can sell it so cheap! The triax is a great shifter! I personally have a pro5.0 on my stang! If I had to buy a new shifter all over again! I'd go with the MGW shifter! My friend has it on his mach1 and let me tell you, that is the best shifter a mustang could have! The shifts are very, very smooth! Best shifter hands down!

I've heard nothing but great things about the MGW LTD shifter. The UPR shifter seems a little too cheap.

Lances03SVT 06-10-2005 09:05 AM

I really want the MGW shifter.

venom 06-10-2005 09:05 AM

I would get the MGW but then again you have to factor how much it costs compared to the UPR unit. It sill doesnt change the fact that his shifts shorter than mine and only difference is shifter we have same tranny t45.

jjtgiants 06-10-2005 09:18 AM

I have the Tri-Ax and love it, but If I could do it all over again I'd get the MGW for sure.

StangGT804 06-10-2005 09:19 AM

Get the MGW shifter, i have heard the tri ax is noisy and also ive heard nothing but good things from owners of MGW shifter!!! Im buying one this weekend!

huh????? anyway..looked at the MGW looks sweet costs the same as the Steeda (but no free shipping..MT!) and everyone says its great..so i think ill buy it...in a few days

venom 06-10-2005 09:24 AM

Get the MGW shifter as I might get it later on and sell my Steeda. He got it at FFW event for 99 dollars including the shifter handle so it is a great deal.

Badfish 06-10-2005 09:30 AM

I went ahead and ordered it  i got the shortest handle too ;) how hard are these to intstall?

venom 06-10-2005 09:33 AM

Simple just make sure you have silicon or the gasket that MT sells http://mustangtuning.com/shbahaga.html

I might but that gasket as well!!

jjtgiants 06-10-2005 09:44 AM

Yes, get the MT gasket. It made the install a bit easier because you don't have to worry about getting the silicon in the transmission. I think it also helped with the vibration.

Badfish 06-10-2005 10:28 AM

silcon comes w/ the MGW tho

if i did get that gasket would it work w/ the mgw?

madmatt 06-10-2005 10:32 AM

Oh definately, if I did it again, Id go with the MGW hands down. Its fully adjustable to your needs and looks SWEET, even though you never see it. The triax is somewhat noisy, but thats normal. Also, gasket or silicon, Ive heard the gasket is quieter, but its really up to you.

Yes it should work as the outline of the tranny opening does not change.

danbc21 06-10-2005 01:38 PM

I have a tri-ax shifter and I like it but It’s a little noisy. I thinking of getting a MGW shifter also. Where do they sell it for a good price?

madmatt 06-10-2005 01:40 PM

I think you can only get it through MGW, or at least, thats the only place Ive seen it.
