Default SVT, Say it aint so!

I heared from another mustang enthusiast that SVT is threatening to stop workin on ford products if ford does not hand over the licencing to the mustangs, and that this argument already resulted in the cease of production of the for lightning....

Anyone heared this?

No, this is not true. SVT is a section of Ford. They are not like Roush, Saleen, and others.

How intertwined are they?
Normally, i see SVT and ford referred to as seperate entities normally...

example: Car & Driver...

"No such luck, as Ford and SVT decided the development costs were too much to bear. "

Ive noticed this a lot, so i was curous how much thier legal binding happens to be, but normally i do see them seperatly. Ford & SVT, or Ford & Ford SVT.

I work for Time Warner Telecommunications, but we really have nothing to do with Time Warner, Time Warner communications, or Time Warner Cable. Completly seperate companys.... Curious if it might be like that

I know it is nothing like saleen and roush, which are complete seperate companys that simple love to soup up fords, but it seems to me like it might be a part of a child-company spawned by ford, and depeneding on the licencing agreements they might be able to sever themselves. If it was a child company they would have thier management structure and could run virtually independant except for any legal bindings that were put in place. But as time goes, those legal bindings my not be quite as binding as they used to be.

not saying it was gonna happen, but somone recently said that they were at odds. The source IS a mustang enthusiast, but i never heared anything about it prior.

Im just gonna have to do some research on SVT and see what thier history is. Probably an interesting read.

an easy way to put It is know as Ford SVT which means " Ford Special Vehicle Team"

the website for SVT is http://www.svt.ford.com/home.asp

if you notice svt is the subdomain of ford.com. This means that it is in the same company. Just another division of Ford.

Guess what lincoln, mercury, mazda, volvo, jaguar, landrover, aston martin, they are all Ford. Ford owns them all and are under the Ford company ownership.

I believe nothing of what I hear. Wait until you see it in black and white. However, if anyone knows a SVT employee, grab their paycheck and see who it is signed by. I bet it says Ford Motor Company.

also think about this, svt was not around when mustang was created. The closest would be Shelby but he also worked for Ford at the time

Well, that solves that question, now doesn't it? Don't believe nothing of what you hear or are told until ya see it in black and white.

Thanks for the investigative work you did on my paycheck idea. :icon_thum

Make no bones about it, Ford and SVT are the same. As far as I know, Ford created SVT as sort of a skunkwork-type operation.

I have worked for a Fortune 200 company for the last 12 years and am currently working on my MBA, and I can tell you that large corporations will often times create these little spin-offs for a particular mission. Large corps have lots and lots of crazy rules. These skunkworks are allowed to work in an environment that often times avoid these rules. SVT most likely has all the backing of Ford, but acts more like a small company.

By creating a legal division between Ford and SVT, Ford is protecting themselves from potential liability. If SVT screws up, Ford is not put at risk, only SVT. So, when Ford wants you to think they are the same, they do. When they don't, then they look separate too. It also works for marketing reasons as well.
