springs install price...?
 

I have my eye on those ford racing c-springs for 140 on mt and I was wondering if a)they were a good buy and b) a roundabout figure of the price for installation and c) if it'd be something possible to install by myself?

Yes you could install them yourself, I'm glad I didnt after watching the guys install mine :) My tire place charged me $100 which I think was a real good price. I like more of a drop than the C springs but they are a good spring and cheaper :)

wow! just a hundred bucks? i was expecting a few hundred. what kind did you get? and are those c-springs any good or should i go steeda?

Do it yourself, it's not that bad, just get a buddy to help ya out and make an afternoon out of it.

is it something you can do on jacks? how much space do you need?

I went with H&R Sport springs with a 1 1/2 drop all the way around. The C springs are good but only lower around an inch. It all depends on what you like.

I myself went with the Eibach Pro springs. When I looked into lowering springs, everything seemed to come back to Eibach's as one of the leading springs. I didn't want to loose to much of my ride, which is why I went with the Pro springs with the 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" drop. If you go much lower than that, your handling is great, but the ride is ****. My friend did the 2" drop and hated the rough ride, so he changed them again to bring it back up alittle. All in what you use your car for and the look your after.

Ive heard the H&R and Eibachs are made in the same factory in Germany.

you can do it yourself its very easy. you need a spring comprssor though. shouldnt take more than a 2 hours or so.

I'll do it for 75 and beer!! It's so easy to install. I know how to do it like I know the back of my hand. I've done it a few times already. Very easy and not that long.

you don't need no stinkin spring compressor...the a arm drops low enough to allow the spring to decompress

the place im getting mine done is charging $125 for the install. its an eibach proline kit.

its for saftey i know you can do. but most people are to dumb and will hurt themselves.

...I'll pay for help, but I want to do the work.

it took me like 12 hrs or so but i replaced shocks, struts, ball joints, and bushings. i'd do it my self take the 100 towards something else also you may find other parts that r worn and need to be replaced.

No need for a spring compressor. Everything drops low enough to where the springs actually just fall out of place.

A couple of jacks and a couple jack stands.

The rear springs are a piece of cake, the front ones you may need a pry bar to get the old springs out and the new ones in but they don't come flying out if you bring everything down.

It really should only take 3 hours at the most.

This is correct. The old springs are taller, and they fit tighter than the new, which should slip in with no problem.

For the fronts use a hydraulic jack to take the pre-load off the oe spring, then unbolt the strut and SLOWLY let the pressure off the jack. Depending on year and model you may also have to temporarily unbolt a brake line (shouldn't have to disconnect line though) or sway bar. Once the spring is loose, wiggle it out (it should pop out, but use the bar if you need to).

Rears are similar, but easier in my opinion.

Things to note: Springs come with directions - slightly different from one manufacturer to another. Follow the directions. If they want the pig tail at the bottom on the rear springs facing the front of the car, do it, etc.

Hech yeah, you can do it yourself. Im no rocket scientist and was able to do it, so I know you can. I didnt even take the tie rod end apart and was able to get the spring out. Just for safety sake tho,,use a motorcycly tie down or some sort of tie down for when you get her(front springs) to pop out. To many documented injuries of people getting hurt. Once you are done go get an alignment. (something i have yet to do. BTW, I have STEEDA springs.)
