Best way to ship rims?
If I have to ship my rims, whats the best/cheapest way? The last time i did it, i gave em to UPS and they charged me over 300 freaking bucks to to ship em! anyone know? cus if it's gonna cost me that much to ship em, i'd rather sell em locally for 200 less and not have to deal with the hassle

i dont know if there is a way for someone in general public to ship rims cheap.
|
dhl ships cheaper.......and how ive recieved rims a guy cut out cardboard in a circles the size of the tires and taped one circle on each side of the rim/tire filling the inside of the rims with bubble wrap. It seemed like a good idea, cuts down on box size to save some money.

Jon, see if you can ship greyhound too, i would love to get these rims if i can, ya kno? lol |
I shipped my deep dish bullitts with tires on them, and the front rims didnt have tires. Cost me about 130 bucks total, but I PACKED MY OWN BOXES. You can go to a moving store and see if they have a large box. Im willing to bet 100 bucks that you paid UPS was for boxing/packing costs. They absolutely RAPE you on packing stuff. Go buy some boxes and a couple rolls of bubble wrap from walmart. Youll save money, hand over fist doing it this way.

would it be best to use 1 box per rim, or put 2 in a box
|
two in a box would be slightly cheaper.
Ive always figured its a buck a pound on a very rough estimate. more boxes cost more... |
Ship it by mexicans on donkeys that will be the cheapest. Unfortunitely no insurance.
|
I shipped mine all seperate, but thats because the wheels were so big and the boxes werent.

I shipped all 4 of my 03 cobra rims with tires for $83. They were all 17x9's and I didn't even package them up myself. I just pulled to fedex in the pickup and pulled off each wheel at a time and took them into fedex and rolled it her.

Also depends on how far your shipping them
|
hmm...i think what im gonna do is the cardboard circles on each side of the rim, tape em up..and send em like that via DHL....ive received rims like that
|
haha was this the time you sold me your bullitts?

I think its cheaper if you can ship from a business...or maybe thats only recieving.

I have shipped many wheels best to used DHL or Fedex. If they have tires cut out two cardboard circles and make sure it covers complete face of wheel. I like to wrap them in a big plastic bag and run a roll of tape around it for further protection. If its just the rim you need to put it in a box. Shipping depends on weight and distance they need to go. I have to sell my truck wheels and each weighs 78lbs.
Just remember if its poorly packed and gets damaged they may not cover it. |
