I HATE rice rockets!!!

As a young car enthusiast in High School I see many ignorant people being drawn in to those stupid inferior imports. I am here to proudly declare that I will never own one of those v4,plastic, run 19's on the quarter p.o.s. I love the mustang and view it as not only a great car but a representation of the American automotive industry. Imports don't deliver good performance and don't help the American economy. The only reason to buy one is if you don't care about quality and are just looking for a cheap vehicle to get you from point a to point b. I wrote this because i'm sick of listening to stupid high schoolers talk of how great imports are. If you agree or disagree or have anything to say on this add it to this thread.
Ya'lls Friend in Cars,
The last sane high school student

WaterDR 10-27-2004 08:12 PM

I will vote for you as President!

Blue Thunder 10-27-2004 08:15 PM

Thanks I just can't stand that high pitched whine of those imports. It would be great to be in politics! :)

02Stang 10-27-2004 09:07 PM

i couldent say it any better, This is my 3rd Stang and i wouldent change my style of vehicles if someone paid me! STANGS FOR LIFE :D

98silvergt 10-27-2004 10:46 PM

im asian and the only one of my friends and my friends friends, and my friends friends friends to have a mustang. And it rocks :D

madmatt 10-28-2004 05:39 AM

Well, I have to disagree about some of it. I HATE Ricers to no end, but when you say something like "Imports do nothing for our economy" and basically say that ALL imports are crap, you just sound somewhat ignorant. Honda has some of the MOST AMAZING engineers. I know they are not meant for performance, but anyone who can make a car get about 40 mpg and not make a sound, obviously knows what they are doing. Not all imports are crap, just they all get a bad name because of The Fast and The Furious punks who rice theirs out. You just have to look at both sides. You can make anything fast, and the people that actually take the time and make an awesome import, get nothing but respect from me. Even though I still think my car sounds WAY better than theirs. :D

I totally agree :)

Blue Thunder 10-28-2004 08:00 PM

True enough but I still hate them and will NEVER own even if I was beaten for not owning one and to the Asian dude You Rock!!!

98silvergt 10-28-2004 10:39 PM

haha thanks :p

BabyStang 10-28-2004 11:01 PM

I have a buddy who has a datsun with a 350 chevy engine! That import is done right! It sounds good and run 10s in the 1/4. As far as the "lastest trend" I laugh! It is so stupid. I don't see the point of a riced out weed eater that looks about as funny as it sounds (I still think farting noises are funny)!J/K!!!!!

madmatt 10-29-2004 06:00 AM

Datsuns with 350's are no joke man. There is a website out there somewhere with a guy that put a superchargered LT1 in it and it will just roast the tires at highway speeds. Its friggin awesome.

xcler8 10-29-2004 09:57 AM

Here is my humble opinion...

I am ok with with "rice rockets"...I will never own one, and I love revving up the mustang when I'm next to one...BUT:

The new generation of kids can not afford the RWD muscle car anymore...it is not the cheap car it was in the 60's-70's-80's....now the cheap car they can afford are the Neons, Civics, Preludes, Focus, Cavaliers...etc..but kids are still wrenching on them! If they were not wrenching on cars anymore, this hobby that we all know and love would be dying fast. As long as kids are working on a car, making it faster, look better, or doing whatever it is to make it their own, I applaud their effort.

Think about it this way: In the 60's the Flat head V8's ruled...everybody built street rods out of T-buckets, lead sleds etc...and they HATED the newer generations building newer cars like GTO's Camaros, Cudas, and the obvious little pony car called Mustang....the same thing is happening now, except it is our generation who is intolerant of the next generation....

Just remember, these kids are the ones that are going to be designing parts for 2010 Mustangs....

Mustang Tuning 10-29-2004 10:57 AM

The thing that bugs me about the "ricers" is the ones that are all show and no go. I have nothing against tricking out a car or putting a system in it. But I do have a problem when they think it is fast because it has a 6" wide chrome exhaust tip! I see a lot of imports at the track and I applaud the ones that are done right, but to do one right so it will compete with a V8 will cost you so much that you might as well have saved up and bought the V8 in the first place. Just my 2¢.

Jeremy 10-29-2004 09:14 PM

For me I am married to the Mustang for life actually. Valentines day I was in a tattoo shop getting inked up for my love of stangs.

Blue Thunder 10-29-2004 10:01 PM

While you are partially right on the fact that my generation likes imports because of cost there are a few sane young people like myself who will pay the extra buck for a quality car with a V8.

BabyStang 10-29-2004 10:36 PM

I agree 100%! I have a V8 interceptor I work on myself. But it is sad that our generation is becoming a rare breed.

4.6 Love 11-02-2004 03:48 PM

Ricers blow period! :D

WaterDR 11-02-2004 04:00 PM

I would rather push my Ford than drive a Honda.

04SVTDRIVER 11-21-2004 09:57 PM

I agree with madmatt. I really hate the fags who put a body kit, spoiler, and fart tip on there stock honda and think they are great that's the punks that I fly by in my cobra but the guys who can get 400hp out of them and do nice exterior toches get my respect anyday. I know a guy here that has an 03 Eclipse with a hairdryer that has 391 rwhp and runs high 12's that will get my respect anyday. But I do have to say that NOTHING and I mean NOTHING sounds better than a V8 EVER

IceMan 11-22-2004 01:17 AM

You wanna talk about amazing engineers... go read up on the basics of the Toyota Prius from engine to tranny... it's nothing short of amazing.. I love CVT's

ricers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought a stang and i love them me and my friend at school both have black ones and it seems everyone at my school has ricers they put there cool lights and loud bumble bee mufflers on and think they have something special and i cant stand ricers at all now.

Blue02GT 11-28-2004 10:08 AM

I'll give you the old guys perspective. I got my drivers license in 1976 when I was a sophmore in high school. I bought a 66 Mustang coupe. Navy blue, 289 2barrel 3 speed manual for $300. It needed fixing up which I did myself. Parts were cheap and plentiful. Insurance was cheap and so was gas. My car was sort of a 1976 ricer in a way. An older low perormance inexpensive car that was easy to mod. I built my own 12.5 to 1 compression .60 over motor, ported the heads myself, threw on a alum. high rise manifold, holley 780 double pumper carb, headers, etc. I got a Ford 4 speed toploader from a wreck, new clutch and to finish it all up a set of 4.63 gears. It was a screamer, I used to kill big block Chevy's and Pontiacs. But that was when it was cheap and cars were easy to work on. Now days most kid's can't afford the insurance and gas cost for a older 5.0 or Camaro. So they opt for the low cost Honda's etc. I understand that they want a cool car because every young guy wants one too. The problem is they are working with cars that were never intended to be a muscle car. It's a tall order to make these cars fast. You have to dump a truck load of cash into them just to get into the high 13's. I respect anyone who can make these cars run fast but I get tired a punks in tiburon's(sp) and such who rev at me or do fly by's to me on the highway. My car can destroy 99% of the Ricer's on the road at 3/4 throttle but I don't go around driving like an ass. I don't street race, I race at the track. But just once I'd love to destroy a car load of these posers in front of a bunch of their little "fast and the Flatulent" friends at a stop light. It's fine if you want to fix up your hatch back just don't fool yourself and think a chrome fart can and a big wing make it fast.

Well, I have always been into the muscle car scene in everything from Mustangs to 340 Dusters. BUT... I have also built 3 Turbo RX7's and they are an import car (although I don't know if they qualify as rice because they use a different type of powerplant than any other car). Honestly, two of my RX7's were faster than ANY of the mustangs I have had... including the one I am so proud of now. The last RX7 ran a best of ET of 12.84.

I look at it like this. I am a CAR fan. I love my 2000 Stang.... I also loved my 73 340 Road Runner.... and my '87 RX7. I appreciate anyone that can put themselves into the action by the work of their own hands - even if it is a Honda (although I would never own one... it's not my thing). Just be ready to beaten badly if you wish to challange my Pony with your under-powered 4 banger. And if it keeps up with my car... I'll definately give out the props.

Being from South Louisiana, I can say this without doubt:

To rednecks and most ricers, the equation is simple. LOUD = FAST. A terrible thing... to assume that because your car can create the same amount of NOISE, it can create the same amount of ACCELERATION.

My father owns a 94 twin turbo RX7, it's beautiful, he bought it as a leftover in 95, it's got 30,000 on it. I am his only kid, so I will be getting it someday. IT's pretty fast and handles like a go cart.

Blue02GT 11-28-2004 08:28 PM

I don't consider an RX7 or Supra ricers. These are legitimate sports cars that can go very fast with just a little work. I'd love to own a Supra, those are awesome cars. Now the Civics I see with carbon fiber hoods, fart cans etc. those are ricers. We have not even discussed American rice like pimped out Cavilers. They are just as bad. Although I have alot of fun watching these clowns at the track.

IceMan 11-28-2004 09:06 PM

My friend recently purchased a Toyota Corolla S (which he thinks stands for sport) and says that once he gets his new exhaust system, and CAI he's gonna take me... Now granted My car isn't the fastest out there but a corolla S can't pull a 0-60 time of under 9-10 seconds. Even with work done to it. That's the kind of thing that disturbs me. These guys think that exhaust and a CAI will give them a 10 second car. If they only realized it MIGHT give his car a good 10 horses, bringing it up to a whopping (claimed) 140 hph (definitely not even to the wheels). The only thing he has going for him is his 1,000lb weight cut.

I am however, jealous of one detail about his car, the gas mileage... 32city/41hwy. Either way, I know I could crush him off the line in second gear ;)

02wt5sp 12-02-2004 03:17 PM

I just got back from being overseas(the UK) for 3 years, where every car there is a ricer. Now granted they do have some awesome RX-7's, supra's, and skylines, but 90% of the cars there are horrible looking, loud as hell, and slow as my grandmaws 1.0L dodge omni! They(besides a few bmw's) have no clue what a V-8 is, or sounds like. It was like I was trapped in ricer hell for 3 years straight. I never thought I would be so happy to have to scream to the person next to me anytime I'm over 2000 rpms.

stanger00 12-03-2004 06:24 AM

i bought a 86 crx to be a daily driver but since im short on money i cant afford to get it insured and registered. i drive it to keep the suspension and fuel from getting screwed up, one day when i was driving it the muffler fell off so now the damn car is annoying. people look and laugh at me when i drive it. the only great thing about this car is that it still gets 35 mpg with 217k miles on it. last year i got stuck too much. the ice is horrible out here
