Called out by an 02 z06

It only has a Borla Stinger catback and longtubes. He's an um, average driver. And let's just assume I magincally become a GREAT driver. Think I can I take him?

shad0ws 01-11-2007 10:38 PM

Power to weight ratio he definitely has you not including his 2 mods.

Could be a close race depending on how much you have mastered that 6spd and how much he sucks at driving.

SnTBakosFinest 01-11-2007 10:51 PM

If its not for money do it regardless...it'll be fun =x

Icefreezen 01-11-2007 10:52 PM

Waste him but you better be on the ball from start to finish just to be safe.

MattJ 01-11-2007 10:53 PM

if you dont have drag radials, you would probably be eaten alive. drag radials might be the only thing that keeps it a close race.

Icefreezen 01-11-2007 11:00 PM

ZO6 weight 3118lbs 405hp 400tq at the flywheel and i've seen these cars only hit on the dyno 390-400hp tops at the wheels with similar mods.

2002 GT weight 3066lbs.=415 hp 432tq at the wheels.

You should be able to take him. Just go balls out just for fun.

02LaserRedGT 01-11-2007 11:06 PM

This isnt for money but I hate losing. I don't care what kind of car I'm against.

I always have issues launching, even with DRs. I've always been a much better highway racer. I'm thinking maybe from a 40mph roll, but keep it under 100? One problem I need to overcome is my car's obesity. I'm betting it's over 100lbs heavier than a stock 2V GT.

03gtmustang 01-11-2007 11:07 PM

My friend ran a 12.2 or 12.1 in a stock 02 z06 besides filter and catback. If you race from a roll then you're dead, those things pull like no other up top.

This one ran 12.3@117 last night.

My only chance may be from a roll and to keep it from going too high a speed.

Or I could just sneak this pulley I have to run 14lbs. :devil2: And if my motor goes BOOM, It'll just give me good reason to give MPH an earlier than planned call.

03gtmustang 01-11-2007 11:12 PM

Whats your best time? I remember you having some issues after putting the 6 speed in.

ehh, I've only raced @ the track maybe 6 times with the 6-speed and I've done as well a high 12s and as bad as um, high 22s. :shock2:

03gtmustang 01-11-2007 11:16 PM

I say you have no chance either way unless something goes wrong with the z06.

THATS IT! oh god. Like 03gtmustang said you have no chance at a roll. I'm surprised that your 1/4 mile times though. You need to get out of that hole and powershift the hell to low 12's.:salook:

02LaserRedGT 01-11-2007 11:21 PM

I'll just wait until my next round of mods are complete.

rebelyell 01-12-2007 12:01 AM

might be similar to this if you're street racing. Just similar not actual.. Z06 vs Cobra is always a toss up. Makes for good old fashioned stop light racing though.. :Woot:

give me the keys and ill beat that z06.

madmatt 01-12-2007 07:31 AM

I say he's got you man.

03gtmustang 01-12-2007 08:45 AM

If you cant get good times with 400rwhp, then how are you going to do it with more power?

The car doesnt need more power. It needs a better driver and suspension.

There is no way a 99-04 GT weighs 3,066lbs....unless there was some serious weight reduction. I'm pretty sure the curb weight is around 3,400lbs....and that's probably without gas and driver.

03gtmustang 01-12-2007 11:08 AM

Yeah stock GT's are no where near 3066lbs, not sure where you got that info.

Ehhh it is with some weight reduction I got it off a site that ran a GT against a Z06. Except that stang had dragslicks and skinnies in the front, no back seat, racing seats, tubular exerything so on and so forth....lol

And your right about adding hp is not going to do it he needs to practice on driving the car. if that vette is running a 12.3 or some of us have better chance heck my I had 350hp and 457tq on a 125 shot and ran a 12.5 with crappy 60 foot.

Teal_Beast 01-12-2007 11:59 AM

corvette 405 crank hp 3118lbs

Mustang 415whp 3273lbs

Seems like you can take him, but it could be a drivers race.

goodluck

GREG@SN95 01-12-2007 06:27 PM

From a roll... forget it... he alreay beat you...

Now you weigh about the same and you make more power...

But traction is an issue for you...

So If you can keep the tires stuck to the ground... and you can drive well... then you should win... from a dig that is

4.6 Love 01-12-2007 09:21 PM

The zooh will own you bro...I would not bother...people are just giving you weigh t to power specs..what you don't realize is those cars are very aerodinamicly (spelling) that when you hit triple digit speeds that car while move alot quicker than yours...but who knows...I've took a few back in my days...:D

03gtmustang 01-12-2007 09:32 PM

Power has nothing to do with anything, so please stop comparing those #'s. Hell, I ran 12.7 with only 262rwhp. That should drop down to a 12.5 with less then 275rwhp by June.

power certainly has a lot to do with it. it isnt everything, but it is a big factor.

power, weight, gearing, traction, areodynamics etc

02LaserRedGT 01-15-2007 08:10 PM

Update: we were supposed to race yesterday but decided not to. Popos were everywhere, plus one of our friends was pulled over for speeding.

You have a better chance at the track

I disagree. He already raced one my buddies 03 Cobra on the highway and edged him by a carlength, and lost from a dig. The Cobra only has a JLT CAI and catted x-pipe and is making less hp/tq than me.

I personally think he was spraying when made the 12.3 pass, since his previous best was a 12.9, plus he isn't a great driver at all.
