michigan got robbed twice they lost 2 osu by 3 on the road......and didnt drop they were still #2
then they dont play and usc beats ND but not as bad as michgan beat them and michigan gets bumped to #3 for no reason
then usc loses...michigan should move up 2 #2 but once again they get jumped without losing.....thats just not right
michigan was number 2 for almost 2 months and did nothing to lose that spot.....ppl voted for no rematch which would of been a classic game MICHIGAN OSU is the biggest rivalry in sports it comes first almost everytime they do that show on espn ranking the rivalries, sometimes is loses out to boston new york

They got jumped because they ran out of games. Longer seasons such as Florida's allow things like this to happen you can thanks your BCS scheduling. IF Michigan had won against Ohio they wouldn't be in this situation now would they.

and 2nd of all florida did have the hardest schedule but u didnt lost 2 #1 u lost to #9 and u played a AA team....michigan had the #3 schedule in the country so u dont have much leverage there
NOT TO MENTION Florida had lost that game until Arkansas's player tried 2 field a punt running backwards into the endzone over his shoulder

I would be willing to bet that if Michigan never played OSU but still had that one loss to a #1 team, etc. etc., Mich would be playing OSU in the NC game.
I still think Florida should be in the NC game and not Mich.
And OSU and Mich. IS the biggest COLLEGE FOOTBALL rivalry. There is no greater in NCAA football.

i agree with u but the fact that in my opinion the #1 and #2 teams in the country are osu michigan it should b a rematch.....who cares if its a rematch or the same conference the championship is supposed 2 be the 2 best teams not 1 and 3 because 1 and 2 have already played
#35
osu is going to run all over florida. florida has no chance. huge victory for osu. everyone who says mich HAD their chance to beat osu, its not about beating osu. thats what nov 18. was about a rivalry, thats it. this is much bigger. its the championship. michigan vs. osu would be way more entertaining then watching florida lose like expected. bcs is bullshit

I think the BCS got it right by putting Florida and not michigan in since my Trojans took a crap on themselvs....just a horrible performance.
Anyway, there probably won't be a playoff system.
1. A four team playoff----that can work when there are 4 worthy teams, but if not it becomes a joke. Who would be your 4th team this year....Louisville? LSU? Wisconsin?
2. Or maybe an 8 team playoff?? You could invite the 6 conference champions, but what would happen in the case of Boise State or some othe school that is not in the large conferences, but worthy.
3. Also, there could be a + 1 system where the top two winners from the bowls play for the NC game. That could possibly make the UCLA win pointless because if USC beat michigan they'd be right back in the national championship game rather than the bruins spoling it.
I'm not saying there shouldn't be something, but no system will be perfect I don't think.

i think a perfect system would be a system that changes from year 2 year to fit the cirsumstances....like this year michigan and florida play for chance at title...the next year if theres 4 teams worthy have them all face off....change it year to year to fit the circumstances.....most years u can narrow it down to at least 4 contenders so this would most likely work

I think its funny how the Michigan fans are reacting now. THE STATS WERE DEAD EVEN in the BCS. The only thing that pushed it over was the human portion.
Florida isn't going to be a push over in fact I think they are going to turn some heads. Florida's defense is the fastest in the nation.
I dont even have to argue why Florida should be #2. Cause guess what they ARE! Accept it.

In college football there is no relevant rivarly that is bigger than UM vs OSU that gets attention throughout the entire country. There are alot of good rivalries but most are just regionally important.
OSU vs UM is up there with Duke vs NC, Yanks vs Sox, etc.
Michigan beat # 6 Wisconsin by 14 and # 11 Notre Dame by 26 points. They lost to the #1 team by 3 on the road.
Florida beat # 4 LSU by 13 and #12 Arkansas by 10 points. Florida lost to #9 Auburn by 10 also on the road.
In both teams only loses, UM got beat by the #1 team by 3 and Florida lost by 10 to the #9 team. So not only was Michigan more dominant in its major wins the loss it had was to a MUCH better team and by a touchdown less.
The fact of the matter is that half of the coaches and harris poll guys switched their vote this week, and the major reason given is because they didnt want a rematch, if USC had beated UCLA there is no way Florida would have jumped Michigan and pushed them back to #4. The only reason Florida got the vote is because the voters where anti-rematch, no more no less.

The whole strength of schedule is what Florida hangs their hat on, Florida does in fact have the # 1 schedule, but Michigan was #3. Not alot of difference there is there. As for your ranking deal, thats not even true. Michigan beat two teams currently in the BCS top 15 same as Florida.

Both Michigan and Florida played Vanderbilt.
But UM won 27-7 and Florida won 25-19.
Another point that I heard from ESPN radio on the drive home today so take it what its worth but Vegas said OSU was a 6 point favorite over UM when they played at OSU, OSU is already an 8 point favorite on a neutral field against Florida. If UM would have made the champ game OSU would have been a 1 point favorite on the same neutral field. I know that Vegas is not a guarantee, but they do have multi billion dollar casinos for a reason. They also said that if Florida and UM would play this week that UM would have been an 8 point favorite on a neutral field.
In any event it doesnt matter now, its decided. We will just see how the games turn out.

Lets start off by saying I dont care about Michigan, Florida, USC, OSU, etc. I am not attached to any of the teams. You however are a Florida fan, so of course your opinion is biased towards your team.

I'm still not sure that Ohio State is the #1 team in the country!
Yes I said it!!
Just because you went undefeated and are everyone's darling does not to me make you the best.Everyone and I mean everyone thought USC last year was going to roll over Texas and we know how that turned out.
I think the whole system is corrupt and it's based on how much money will be made by the team's in the BCS bowl's and what big name College will get a huge payday.
I'm a diehard Big 12 fan and alway's will be but I have to admit that the SEC this year has more quality team's than any other Conf.I don't think anyone could have went undefeated in the SEC this year and that includes OSU.And yes Florida has'nt been impressive at times but they still only lost one game in a very, very good Conf.
Wait till you see what LSU is going to do to ND and compare that.
Florida just might shock the nation as Texas did last year!

I cant wait till January both teams are going to bring their A game. Right now thats the only thing i'm looking foward to. I think the BCS championship is better than the Superbowl.
#48
He wouldn't be alone. OSU had faced the same same people. I still say the Big 10 doesnt have that many impressive teams this year.
#49
Definately right on the Big 10 having nothing.

No one will ever really know untill they stop being so money hungry and have a playoff system like EVERY other sport in the country. It's a freaking joke the way it is now. It's a popularity contest, plain and simple.
Just think if March Madness turned into only the top two team's in the poll's playing for the championship with no one else getting a shot at going all the way. That's why the Final 4 is alot more interesting than the BCS Bowl's.How many times have you seen a #1 team in the tournement get beat by a lower seed that no one thought had a chance.
By all right's Boise State is 12-0,the only other undeafeated team in the country and they are ranked 9th.If being undeafeated with a weak schedule makes you #1 then should'nt they be playing in the championship?
#51
Well think about it.The same people who had ND as #1 in alot of preseason poll's are the same one's who say OSU is #1.Who have they really beat that is that impressive? They played a weak schedule, they beat Texas wow so did 2 other team's.Hell Arkansas played a tougher schedule. How do we know Michigan is that good? They beat ND so did USC.

That being said if OSU would win the title game they would be the only team in history to defeat three teams ranked #2 when they played them.
You are 100% correct again on your issue the games are corrupt, they are setup to who will bring in the most people. While I understand their position because they make an assload of money on the games so I kinda see why they would pick a very popular and extremely wealthy fan base team line Notre Dame when they CLEARLY didnt deserve it.
I do not agree with the SEC being that much better than the Big 10 and that OSU or UM would not have went undefeated. Florida had 1 hard road game against a top 15 BCS team and lost it. Michigan had two and the only loss was by 3 at #1 Ohio State.
Everyone is making out Floridas schedule to be super impossible. Of their 12 regular season games only 5 where on the road and they where at a crappy Florida State, crappy Vanderbilt, mediocre Georgia, descent #17 Tennessee, and the lone good team was #10 Auburn oh yeah and they lost that one.
The only really great wins they had was to a two loss #4 LSU at home and a three loss # 12 Arkansas in the Championship game.
While Michigans two good wins where a pasting of a two loss #11 Notre Dame and a 14 point win over an otherwise undefeated #7 Wisconsin who consequently would be in a BCS game except they cant have three teams from 1 conference.
I do not doubt that Florida could upset OSU, it has definatly happened but to put it in context Florida is a bigger underdog this year than Texas was last year. It would be a MAJOR defeat.
SEC has #2, #4, #12, and #17.
That really doesnt seem that much different to me, how bout you. The top 3 Big 10 are ranked higher each slot vs the top 3 SEC, but the SEC does have 1 more in the Top 25.
But in any event the SEC vs Big 10 debate will be settled in the Bowls. Wisconsin plays Arkansas in their bowl game aftering hammering Auburn last year. As well as the obvious OSU vs Florida. Also Tennessee plays Penn State as well.

If florida wins and michigan beats USC is there anyway there will be co-national champions like USC-LSU did a few years back?
#56
I think your right about both points. I'm still pissed about the NC game last year...USC should not have lost that freaking game, but we did.....oh well.

Florida has a 3 point edge over UM in the AP poll, that is a VERY slim lead but even still I doubt that UM would jump both Ohio State and Florida unless they absolutely crush USC and Florida either wins on a fluke play or get a win like Oregon did against Oklahoma this year where two blown calls cost Oklahoma the win.
What I am hoping for is for UM to win and OSU to curb stomp Florida by 30, neither of which imo is likely to happen.
I think USC will probably win given they lost the Rose Bowl last year and dont want to be embarrased two times in a row. That an UM is for all intensive purposes is playing a road game. I also think that Ohio State will beat Florida but probably not by much. Tressel seems to always have his team up for Big Games and Bowl games. They have won every bowl game they have played since 2001 by at least 1 touchdown. They are 5-1 against Michigan since 2001, they are 5-1 in bowl games, they are 1-1 vs Texas. The only time they lost to Michigan and Texas both teams won the Title.
2005 - OSU vs Notre Dame - 34-20
2004 - OSU vs Oklahoma State - 33-7
2003 - OSU vs Kansas State - 35-18
2002 - OSU vs Miami - 31-24 (title game)
2001 - OSU vs South Carolina - 28-31 (loss)
One thing people dont realize is that Florida has not faced an offense as potent as Ohio State and OSU has already faced a defense as good as Floridas when they played Michigan.
