Anyone around Boise? I need to chat you up.

I need to chat up some folks from Idaho. I'm considering a move there for a job that pays insane money (for not being in CA) and I want to know what to expect out there.

If you're an ID resident, please PM me. If you're not a ID resident now but have been one recently, please PM me. If you don't fit the first two qualifications, please leave this alone. This is serious stuff.

Not my business, but also from numbers I have seen, if you go to idaho and your going to be making way more money then in cali, then your deff going to be banking because in Idaho you can get a house for like $100k-$155k, unlike how in cali houses are like $500k+. You bills would be some min

I was gonna say Boise is a pretty quiet area and cost of living there is cheap. I'd do it. At least you wont hae to deal with traffic and my back yard would be a ATV riding area:boink:

Money is money and Cali aint cheap. I want to move to Georgia but I love the ocean and I love to surf so I may just move to a rural part of Florida when I get older.

The key to moving to a different/cheaper state is being able to keep your Cali pay....if you can't do that then things become relative. If you can't keep the same pay then it makes it almost impossible to come back to Cali if you wanted to.....but it sounds r3dn3ck has it made and will be living VERY VERY well in Idaho with that kind of money. But the weather sucks in most other states so that's almost worth staying in Cali.....I like driving my stang 365 days a year and getting no snow, but only living 4 hours away from Lake Tahoe where there is all the snow in the world!

that's about as far as I've gotten. I've been checking out house prices and the stuff we'd spend 600K on here is 150K there. Hell I can live IN boise proper for under 200K.

I've already negotiated to keep my california wage so I'm set there, and they're willing to pop in 10K or so for moving expenses. I love california weather but I hate californians and the CA state government is the MOST corrupt of any state.

What I want to know is:

How have the housing prices been over the last 2 years in boise?
5 years?
10 years?
How's the crime?
How's the Idaho educational system?
How are ID state income taxes?
Property taxes?
Vehicle registration fees?
How much does it snow and ice up the roads in winter there?
How long does winter last there (the REALLY cold part)?
Are the roads sanded in winter or salted?
What are good neighborhoods (or just sections... north, south, etc..)in Boise to be looking at for an intolerant, arrogant, quiet loving, upper-middle-class white guy to be looking at houses in?
