uh... i'm freakin out... advice please...
OK... I hope theres a lawyer in here... :/
OK... I never used facebook... never wanted to... never should have... but my ****in buddy had the great idea to bug me til i finally did it...
SO... we make one up... and theres a pic of me in front of my rebel flag... and we make this "group"
The group was a joke between us... I don't understand exactly how all this yatta bull crap works... but apparantly everyone saw it and got angry at us...
group --- (note it was a ****in joke)---(and we were drunk)-----> NJIT confederate white rebels...
ok... stupid idea... i go to school where I am a minority...
now unrelated stuff
1. kid JON, he was joking around with a friend from home... and he left a message on hos friends wall saying better wear hanks vest cause Ill be strapping
2. kid carmine had a pic of a kid pointing a shot gun at him as his profile pic
3. I had mentioned in my profile that I like to blow stuff up and shoot stuff
now our group had 11 people in it...
some kids at school were offended by the group... my friend dave (who is black) told me to take it down... so we did... gone... we don't want any problems and I dont wanna **** off my friends...
so few hours later... Me and 2 friends are confronted by a detective...
He asks me about everything... I said we were only joking... and we took it down... then he takes my 2 friends to the station to talk with them (which raises a red flag in my head)
1.5hrs later they get back...
soon after the swat team goes lookin for carmine
well heres what they think...
That our group came together to "conspire"
They think that we are planning a school terror attack...
they think i am a ****in mastermind osama bin laden wacko...
they asked my friends if I have pipe bombs laying around my house (which pisses me off, i have a ****in good family... I aint a scum bag)
Now get this... the next morning there is a ****in bomb scare... there was a suspicious "package left in a building. It made the paper that the A/C guy left it there... it was an electrical box...
and today they try scaring everyone into not talkin to anyone... they say that they want to prosecute us for "slander against the NJIT name"
1. we didnt make any threats
2. we were jokin which is acceptable jokin where we are from
Is it legal for them to say who we can and cannot talk to?
Can we get in trouble for slander???? (wtf happened to freedom of speech
)

I honestly don't think they would have done anything if it hadn't been for all the recent school shootings. Slander is a big deal but I always thought it was against a company. Like if you used slander to hurt their business or reputation. I am sure everything will come out fine in the end man. They are probably just trying to find something to throw at you since you had a valid excuse for what you did and nothing bad happened and I am sure they knew that. They just want to make damn sure I am sure. Goodluck though. That does suck.

well... freedom of speech is there as long as you play by the rules. If anything was damaging to the schools reputation they could probably procecute you for slander.

and last I knew facebook had no affiliation with my school... so school rules dont apply...
and it wasn't a hate group... everything we did falls under the 1rst ammendment...
buts its obvious from some past stories that some of the school admin are rather racist... well not the racist we usually think of... racist agaisnt whites but that has nothing to do with this...
I am not racist... i have black friends AND FAMILY... and even if i was that too isnt against the law...
and we didnt throw anything we wrote in anyones face, we didnt direct it towards any one... and i am officially on skoal tin # 4

Slither is right, yer not in jail, you probably wont go to jail. With any luck the school will give you a stern lecture or some ****.
Even though this is not a real organization, let alone a hate group, they very well may try to put that spin on it, better be prepared. Yer right there is nothing illegal about being associated with hate groups. however society in general seems to frown upon such things and they dont help your position.
Simply calling the group NJIT Confederate White Rebels associates it with NJIT regardless to where it is posted, NJIT is a licenced trademark and they could easily sue for damaged reputation (regardless if there were any damages, they can claim that the reputation is tarnished etc etc)

Yer right about the pic of yer buddy, there is nothing illegal about taking a pic of yerself with a gun. it is his right to own the gun. However, if they can "prove" or at least convince the courts or detectives that the pic was intentionally taken to impose a threat they can go after him for that as well.
The problem with this stuff is the entire burdon of proof will be on your heads, not the lawss. We all know innocent untill proven guilty, but we also know that isnt always the case.
DEFINATLY go to school tomorrow. If questioned be honest and say it was a dumb joke, that yer embarassed about the entire thing, etc etc.
If you dont show up it makes you look guilty of something....

and I'm gonna go talk to the cop first thing... and if it becomes a big headache and he gives me a hard time then I'm gonna stop talking... i will become 100% unresponsive...
AND
Ill make sure he knows that my pops is a retired trooper...
I already know the tricks he IS pulling
ANd I know what tricks hes gonna try
It just sucks when I have to think about every little thing I tell him so that he cant twist it and use it against me...

I would be careful with the recorder. I am pretty sure by law you have to tell them they are being recorded. If you don't tell someone they can bust your *** on that. Walk in and put it on the desk and say you are going to record this conversation. Make sure you have that part recorded also.

"hey cheif! what up? you me and my friend were in my back yard and we blew up the huge pumpkin! It was awesome"
and he would laugh... he wouln't try and prosecute me... or call the swat team in to arrest all my friends...

someone said that they had the FBI at the school for the bomb scare... and I really wouldnt put it past them...
I kinda look at this different ways...
Its kind of a good thing really... What if someone really was planning an attack... it makes me feel safer... I just hope that the guy is a good detective and that everything goes well tomarow

As far as bringing the FBI in to it I have no doubt. My school's postprom party last year was threatened with a bomb. Apparently the letter was so compelling and personal and specific that the prom was postponed aand everything... eventually after having two of my close friend's houses searched they didnt find anything, and rescheduled the prom. I have a shirt that says "No-Bomb-Prom" lol... they had bomb sniffing dogs search every nook in the school andthe local ethan allen... (where the prom was to be held) and turned up nothing, and had one at the post prom party just standing in the dark, lookign at us as we walked in.

and there wasnt a bomb threat...
just a scare... cause someone thought that a big electrical A/C box was a bomb.... but its kinda silly to have an A/C guy workin on A/C when the temp is dropping and we should have the heat on...
not mention how the fvck could you confuse the two...
someone told me that they heard over a scanner that the bomb squad actually defused a bomb...
so idk what to think anymore
