Sad news today

:verypissed:

I was looking around and noticed this

http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/pgSt...0&pageNumber=3

They put a ****ing wing on the Car of Tommorrow.

****, what next Honda Civics.

wnracing 08-22-2006 11:50 AM

Ummm way old news dude..... Those cars are gonna be fun as hell to watch, gonna be racing again.. Finally..

vodad 08-22-2006 11:56 AM

I know the car is old news, but did they have to use that style wing, that looks like ****.

I will be glad for a new car that makes the drivers more of a factor. maybe we can get rid of some of these new guys that can only go fast and not do much else.

The way Nascar has been going lately before long we will have owners sleeping with their drivers .....um **** Nevermind.

BrentK 08-22-2006 12:07 PM

I dont like the look of the car but if it will benefit to better racing then thats all that matters. Most of the drivers liked the feel of it yesturday. I just cant wait till toyota brings there pansy ass cars to the track next year and get humiliated by roush cars every week:bigwink:

wnracing 08-22-2006 12:09 PM

lmfao, the Erin Crocker saga continues! Hey, that could be a movie..

"The return of the Crocker."

Ha! Yeah, NASCAR is going in the toilet... We're losing real drivers to the $$$. You have to be in with one of the owners to get anywhere these days. Oh well, hopefully this new car will help im sick of little crybaby yuppies like Matt K. Whining about someone putting a bumper to them every once in a while.

Rabbit 08-22-2006 12:11 PM

WOW! That is fugly!

zigzaggthefag321 08-22-2006 12:12 PM

NASCAR sucks anyway...who cares. Road racing FTW!! F1 FTW!! Rally Racing FTW!!! Drag Racing FTW!!!

why would anyone want to watch a bunch of cars go round and round in a big circle when there are so many other types of better racing out there.

madmatt 08-22-2006 12:12 PM

 Its a race car, its not supposed to look pretty.

If you have taken any notice of the truck series, they have done their homework, and I guarantee you that it will be good next year.. The only thing holding them back is their drivers... uggh Bill Elliot <-has been, M Waltrip, Dale Jarrett... Vickers and R. Gordon are going to be their saving grace..

Im sorry it's a sore subject with me, I have driven stock cars and won championships.. When someone makes a stupid statemnt like "watching cars drive in circles" it get's under my skin.. If you had ever been in a car doing 170mph on a 24 degree banked track you'd know what it was like to "drive in a circle." It's hard as hell, and I almost guarantee you that you couldn't do it.

Im gonna stop myself now before I get too into it.. Sometimes it's just better to bite your tongue. :nunu:

I'm sure they'd tear it off and put the regular ducktail on it...

C'mon dude. Obviously NASCAR knows what they are doing as far as testing with a different spoiler. Remember they are the ones making the big bucks and you are the one sitting at home behind your computer. I think the spoiler looks like garbage too but it is like that for a reason. Over the years in the history of racing the spoilers have changed A LOT! Hell remember Petty ran the Super Bird http://www.thevintageracer.com/felt/17b.jpg way back when. Yeah it was ridiculous but he is known as the King because of the races he won. Even in the early 90s the spoilers were totally different than they are now. Give it a chance. The sport has to have changes to keep things interesting.

Same reason I could say why would someone want to see a truck or car going down a dirt road or watch a car race for short few seconds at the track. I bet if you had a driver that you liked and watched a race with someone to root for and be happy when he was doing good or pissed off when they wreck you would enjoy it. Hell I don't enjoy every race because some are boring as hell. You can't really bash the sport unless you have sat and watched every track these guys go to, or see all the wrecks they get into, or listen to them talk after they win or lose, get into fights once they get out of their car, wreck each other on purpose, and so on. Don't bash the sport until you spend a full season watching it. Do your homework and get back to me.

We are losing the drivers that are legends, Elliot, Martin, Rudd, Wallace. Earnhardt..yeah because they are getting old and had a hell of a career. If it wasn't for them these young guys wouldn't even be here. And it's not like when they were 5 yrs old racing carts they already had it planned out to do it for the money. They did it because they loved it and moved up and caught the eyes of NASCAR because of their younger careers. I don't know of any big name drivers (old or new) that haven't been racing their whole life. There are a handful of drivers that I feel will be around for years to come and they are young. Kahne, Harvick, Jr, Bush, Stewart, and yes Gordon will be there till he dies I think. And what do you mean you have to be with one of the owners to get anywhere? Obviously they are with the owners if they race for them? What drivers have we lost to the money?

c'mon dude...

you don't need a double huge ass spoiler... they're doin fine w/ out em now... its not like the cars are going 300mph

Did you even look at the pics? They are not huge and they are not double. The look similar to the spoilers not but with bigger sides. And no they aren't going 300 mph but damn near 200. If you watch most of the races a lot of the cars still get loose on their own and the back end slides around. Obviously a different style spoiler may help that issue.

vodad 08-22-2006 05:02 PM

I am a Stewart fan for sure, been watching him since the dirt track days. Hey I grew up in Terre Haute, IN. The Action Track is great. followed him in IRL. The move to Nascar was the best for him. But I have been watching Nascar forever.
I was sorry to see Earnhart go, he made races fun to watch, cause you knew he would wreck someone to win. This running into each other under caution needs to stop though, Most people figured Edwards would get a slap on the wrist for Saturday, but hell, I think they gave him a big hug and a kiss.

I figure next year you will see drivers like Stewart, Gordon, the other Gordon, and those type do better than the rest.

srry I have to disagree... they look nothing like the ducktail ones they currently use... the current ones are low profile and aren't 3 INCHES ABOVE THE TRUNK LID!

They go 200mph... as they have been doing for years...

Its just the ****in rice trend getting into nascar... IDK, maybe NASCAR is trying to attract a larger crowd...

either way... the spoiler is pointless and ugly

wnracing 08-22-2006 05:22 PM

Ok, a little background here.. The COT (car of Tomorrow) project was put into place to be a safer car.

You have drivers like Michael Waltrip that are very tall, if they get into an accident it's hard for them to exit the car, that is why the car is taller now.

The windshield goes along with that, taller car = steeper windshield and more drag which = more downforce which makes the cars slower and stick to the track better.

They extended the front bumper, and recessed the front valance. Again, safer front end with more drag. The lower valance is recessed to also help with drafting to get the cars closer and the racing more exciting which goes along with the spoiler..

The rear wing was added, not for handling, but to break up the air behind the car which will bring drafting back and tighten the field. It will also help the problem of now: when you pull up behind a car, your car will push and not turn as well. With the new spoiler the air will be broken up and the car behind will not push as badly therefore it will turn better and keep the field closer.

Got it? :kicknuts:

Greg, do a little research and know what you're talking about every now and then. Just because it's your opinion, doesn't mean it's fact.. :suck:
