My dilema

Ok, I have a 2000 Gt that i thoroughly enjoy (see sig) but has recently been giving me problems (transmission crapping out for one) I also have a degenerative joint disease in my knees that makes using a clutch difficult at times and is only going to get worse. Ok, I have the opportunity to buy an automatic Mach 1 (2004, 15000 miles) for a really good price. So my question. What would you do?
Cheers for any feedback
Cooper

If you can afford it, then hell yes go for the Mach.

get rid of it while you can for the mach 1. with upgrades you can make that mach 1 auto really fly like a manual trans would.

Buy the mach...

PColav6 08-21-2006 07:50 PM

Do it!, and you'll be happy resting your injured leg on the dead pedal.

if yer worried bout the auto making power to the wheels... a nicely built auto can out perform a stick...

If ya got the money
If ya can spare the money
If ya want it

then why the heck not?

Mach 1's have way more potential than GTs. Definitely go for it.

A high hp auto will always out do a high hp manual. Even for lower hp levels Id prefer auto over manual.

Actually autos don't suck ass at shifting. They can shift way faster than probably 95% of drivers with manual transmissions, if not 100%.

I was gonna say. Autos just lose more power to the wheels compared to a manual tranny.

True, around 15% compared to 10%. But that is usually only a problem if the manual driver really knows how to hammer through the gears.

If the stock clutch is too stiff and you still want to have the fun that stick provides, consider a hydraulic clutch kit. Also, clutches like the King Cobra reduce the pedal effort so combine the two and it can make the world of difference.

Teh King Cobra DOES NOT reduce clutch pedal effort...it INCREASES it.

Really? You gotta love false advertising...

the mach is a much more satisfying iteration of the platform than the GT and it responds really well to even light modding. I'd jump on it in your shoes.
