Vehical Life Expectancy

Is there any database out there which tells the average life of a vehical? I know honda's regularly pull 250k miles, while Neons only get about 120k.

I am looking for a winter beater and i found a guy selling a 88 pathfinder v6 4x4 with 170k miles on it for $1,400 and im thinking of getting it, however, i have no friggin clue how long pathfinders usually last. The guy says it passed emmissions with flying colors which is promising....

Honestly if i got 40k miles out of it i'd be totally stoked, cause that would be 40k miles on the pathy instead of the stang.

anybody got any useful info for me? or non useful? or just a link to something that will make me laugh? anything here folks, but i preffer useful.

Consumer Reports might have what you're looking for. Also, perhaps a GVT agency might be able to help. Something along the lines of The NHSTB and The NHSI. Lastly, some insurance companies may have that type of info.

There really is no way to tell how long a car will last..Just depends on the upkeep. My dad bought an old Chevette beater to drive to work, paid $400 for it at an auction. Had 140k when he bought it, put another 120k on it, sold it for another $400, the guy he sold it to put 105k on it and then it died.

That may not be a "typical" thing, but no matter what car it is, if it was kept maintained before you got it, and if you keep it maintianed, they will all last as long as any.
