very nice, cant wait to see how this car turns out a year from now

Badfish 07-24-2006 02:05 PM

very interesting. i have to say im dissapointed. with dealer markup, those are selling for around 70k...same price range as a c6 z06..which has more rwhp and is 1000 lbs lighter. i hope in the next couple years ford makes it better

PColav6 07-24-2006 02:33 PM

That's quite an upset....probably won't be another GT500 for a long time

What do stock 03/04 cobra's dyno at?? I'm not going to say I'm disappointed at the HP #'s, but I'm more disappointed that ford didn't make it easy for a pully swap like the 03/04's.

I love all mustangs, but I wouldn't pay $70k for one.....I'm with badfish...hello c6 zo6!!!!!

Lances03SVT 07-24-2006 03:38 PM

I don't think the numbers are that bad.But the dealer markup is just damn crazy!!

dannyb785 07-24-2006 03:39 PM

Some guy on the forum said "NOw go find a Z06 and show him who's boss!"

ok, the Z06 weight apprx 700 lbs less than the shelby. You gotta give the shelby about 600 bhp to make up for the weight difference

Uh, hell, i had a friend with n 04 cobra with intake, borla exhaust and a chip, he dyno'ed around 425 at the wheels at 5,600 elevation. not sure if that was corrected or not.

In the new Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine the ran the Shelby a 12.25 @ 117 mph. So i think it should be bada**. They are also supposed to be making the Shelby's for a couple of years so i don't think they will have a mark up every year. You should be able to get it at normal price in about 6 months. Once all the rich people buy them.

Try MSRP +10k...

This is Ford's cash cow right now, they arent going to bring down the price THAT much.

For the run of this car, the dealer markup will stand at least 10k above sticker.

From what it sounds like... the guy drove his car in 90% humidity and drove it right onto the dyno for tuning. You can get drastic drops in numbers by not letting your car cool off. Like it was said in one of the threads, i bet 20 hp was gained from the muffler swap, and the other was gained from the two hour interval when the work was being done.

Its not Fords cash cow, the dealer pay Ford the same $$ if the dealer sells it for MSRP or 20K over MSRP.

Its really not even the dealers cash cow, because with only on average 1 per dealer at best, whatever profit the dealer makes on that 1 car isnt going to change the overall bottom line that much.
