hood
alright so the insulation thing on the bottom side of the hood---is it for heat resistance to the paint or is it to deaden the engine noise. i want to take it off but im to afraid that the paint will get screwed up if it is in fact for heat.

why do you want to take it off
|
you'll be fine. my buddy (steve-o on the forums) took his off, spray painted the underside of his hood black, and he has the KB 1.7 which generates a **** ton of heat...and the paint on either side of the hood are perfect

I took mine off 2 weeks ago... No problems as of yet...
It was 97 degrees last week... go for it... As long as you aren't really hard on it or race it, I cant imagine the paint would get ****ed up |

and its only really there to reduce noise for those pansies who buy a mustang thinking it is a two door crown vic, and want it to be nice and quiet

Its also there for Fire supression. If a fire breaks out the blanket is supposed to drop to smother the fire.
I know lots of 03/04 Cobra guys who remove theirs though. To each his own! |
