Should I sell my Sixer?

Alright I just turned 17 and I bought my 2000 V6 last year for $6500. It runs great and has 50,000 miles on it.

I was wondering if I should sell it and get 1999 GT for $8500 and it has 70,000 miles on it.

I was also concerned about gas mileage.

Any opinions?

sell it!

dont worry about gas mileage, i have had both a 6er and a v8 and gas mileage was just about the same, i honestly couldn't even see the diff. The reason for that is because the v6 uses more power to move the car other then the v8 that uses less power to move the car. Id deff sell the 6er tho now while you can

Its your car do you what you want. Myself i like modding a v6 its a bit different. No it doesnt sounds as good, but should get a tad better gas mileage. The 3.8 responds well to mods.

i would save my money and spend it on a 01-04 with less miles

The one thing is though is that at most I have $8500. I still have to start college in a year.

just keep ur car and spend the extra money on school

Here is the link. I like it because it is just like my car(except I have bullitts and this is a GT).

theres ur problem ur looking at buying a car that is automatic

Brandman316 05-23-2006 12:37 PM

...Dont mind the automatic comment....

I think it would be better to save up a little bit and get an '01- '04. More dependable and better. Also are you having to pay for insurance your self?? Because there will be a significant increase I would imagine especially if you are 17 going from a v6 to a Gt. Be patient, and save for a later model GT.

8 cyl > 6 cyl

gas milage??????? are you serious???????? If your worried about that get some 4 banger.

IMO you should keep your car and save some more $. Get a newer GT with lower miles.

sell it get the GT, automatics are great, 99-00 mustang GT's ARE dependable, just do it you wont regret it

madmatt 05-23-2006 03:24 PM

Yes and yes. I still get 21-22 mpg in my V8, so its not that big of an issue with the v6 vs. v8

They may be dependable out of the factory, but what about at 70,000 miles to start with??? I would always be careful about buying GTs with higher miles because the previous owners probably at some point drove it pretty hard and its hard to know what you are getting into. Save the money a bit more and go with a newer GT with less miles.
