Which Race Car would You Build?

6 Attachment(s)
I am having a problem deciding which car to build for 2007. That is, if I finally decide to go back racing next year. The Mini Stock 4cyl I can get for $100 to start building, Street Stock $300 and the Limited Late Model bare frame is around $1,500. All 3 are pretty close in weekly expenses to run, provided you don't wreck. Not sure which class to go into. You help me decide:

The 4cyl is tempting, but that Late model sure is nice. One thing to consider, as the purse goes up, you need to remember the people youll be racing have bigger wallets and probably the best of the best. Not calling you poor or anything, but I remember when you were talking about the other car you raced and how expensive it was getting to be competitive. You seemed to do great with the little 4cyl car, so why not go with that.

Your concerns and comments are also in my thoughts too. Granted, the 4cyl car listed here is NOTHING like the 4cyl cars I raced last year. Plus, there are people in that 4cyl class (Mini Stocks) that have HUGE wallets also. I have a better chance of winning and running competitively in the Mini Stock and Street Stock classes.
Oh and I get to have TWO Mustangs in the stable instead of one. :shifty:

Still sitting on the fence. My longtime sponsor, local salvage yard, has a clean '88 fox body coupe with my name on it. Just gotta say the word. On the other hand, another friend has a '86 Monte SS gutted out and ready to go for $300. Engine costs might be a factor as a good Street Stock engine would run around $7,500. http://www.mcmmotorsports.com/smilies/faint.gif
While I can probably put together a good Mini Stock 4 cyl engine for more than half that.
The Limited Late Model rules for '07 REQUIRE a GM Crate engine that is around $4,000, BUT, teams have learned how to get around those rules and cheat like a mofo. So, the Crate engine designed to help out shmo's like me with little financial resources has turned into nothing more than an overpriced shop built motor. Not to mention, I have a salvage yard as a sponsor and can get almost EVERYTHING for the SS and MS for free. LLM uses all fabricated parts which equals $$$

I still say stick with the Mini 4. Parts to fix it are going to be cheaper.

I also have a set of Mustang GT shocks and struts that I can use. I wonder where those came from. :innocent:

on second thought do the mustang. How much power are you restricted to with the mini's I know you won't be running high displacement with a 4 banger. But magic can be worked on a 4 cyl.
