Car Body Advice
 

I got many plans for this year.

Step A:) finish little things - taillight tint, saleen window decal, saleen badges, etc.

Step B:) Finish bolt ons and re tune - U/D pulleys, 75mm TB/Plenum, JLT RAI, 4.10 gears, re-tune

Step C:) Fix body kit and side scoops (cracking and chipping), saleen rims/tires.

Total so far is about 4000 dollars. After a little help from my parents getting my rims for Bday, and selling my current chrome rims, the total is brought down to about 3000 dollars.

The question: Should I get a Saleen spoiler to complete the kit and/or also get a new hood (I am definately getting a Mach II hood)
total would be aproximately another 1000 dollars.

This brings total for the year to $4000.

After this, I will be totally done with performance because anything else I would want to do is way over my budget. I'll already have all the bolt ons.
The car is a DD, and prolly will only go to the track once.

I really want to start saving money for I want to move into my apt. when I graduate in 2 years. Also want to save for my gf and I. We are hoping to move permanently down south, somewhere in SC, somewhere in 3 years or so.
Yes, I know a long way off, but still, I want to be saving money and have money to spend and not be struggling.

Skip that nasty hood, too much going on with it, and get the ONE PIECE saleen s281 wing.

Go for it all!:beerchug: Especially if you plan on getting married/engaged before too long, b/c then you won't be able to freely spend money on the car. When I got home yesterday and did my exhaust, the wifey came out and said "Where's my $200 to spend now!" ....DOH!

If you want the S281 wing....talk with Bill over at Stage 3 Motorsports...I just picked on up from him (its being painted as I type) and it was in pretty good shape, better than what they used to put out. The only reall difficult thing I had to do was heat up the side to lessen the gap between the edges of the spolier and the sides of the car....

That hood is very aggressive and would only look good with a Saleen front bumper, in which you have. With that in mind, i just have one question? Do you plan on doing a Saleen clone or will the car have shaved emblems, badges ,etc?

It's gonne be a Saleen clone. Not exact in every little detail, like I dont have or want the Saleen 200 MPH gauges, I have autometer. There's little things that arent making it a perfect clone, but hey, this is my own project.

The hood I think looks sweet with the Saleen front facia and is the only reason I was getting it.

I'm getting mine from Haneymotorsports. They have all 3 wings, the 99-00, 02-03, 03 3 piece, and the S351/E-wing.
The one pieces are 189.00 and the 3 piece is 215.95.
Only 5 dollars in shipping because they ship freight.

I have the 3-piece and i am growing weary of the sideburns, but i wouldnt take it off after the PIA install. I think the first one for the win. definately.

I'm leaning towards the first one too. I dont think those little sideburns look that awesome tho, but I like the actual wing.

I would not get that hood. Just get a Saleen hood and keep it looking like one, you are almost there so why stop now.

I'm not a huge fan of the Saleen hoods, too expensive, and with the exception of the E hood, I think they're boring.

I would call and ask them whether they have teh S281 from the new suppliers or the old one...the new ones are a thousand times better then the older ones, basically the new ones come out of the box looking like a wing where the old ones looked more like a pretzel...

Well they ship it freight, so I'm assuming it wouldnt be bent around at all.. :confused: but I'l def be calling them when it gets that time.

I'm getting a couple other little things from them, so we'll see how I like them.

This is the only one i would even consider, but for 800 bucks i consider not.

get the hood and the wing first!

get a cowl hood.

I've thought of a cowl, but no. I would get that Cervini cowl hood tho if I did.

I'm definately getting a one piece Saleen hood.

It could be a Saleen hood, many of the Saleens came with that hood but of course also had the hood scoop. Also was a Saleen hood scoop grille which they dont make anymore.

Ok, bringing this back to life.

I'm thinking Im definately going to put the hood off for awhile. Reason is I'm gonna save that 500 and put it towards some power (CAMS!).

Should I hold off for the saleen wing too?? Or get that?

Thats what you really need to decide because you are going to kill yourself trying to do both.

bingo. I'm prolly going to do the cams. I'll see how my funds are going, and if I'm satisified than at the end of the summer or early fall I'll get myself the Saleen spoiler.
