MGW shifter = teh secks

those of you who dont have it, and can scrounge up about $190(that includes shipping), get off your butt and go to mgw's site and order the thing. The first time I put it in 1st gear after the install I was like, "youve got to be kidding me" and that was a good thing. 5 out of 5 stars. Took an hour and a half with me and a friend taking our time. Could be done under an hour easily w/ someone who knows what they're doing.

Lances03SVT 03-19-2006 03:51 PM

Yea I need to get one for sure.

dang man, you got every other mod possible and no short shifter? It's pretty cheaply prices for how amazing it is

madmatt 03-19-2006 04:40 PM

I must sell this steeda. Who wants it. 100 bucks to whoever wants it :)

its not worth the money to get an MGW...dont get me wrong..MGW > *

but theres alot better stuff you can spend that money on

Stan 03-19-2006 04:57 PM

its deff worth the money i love my MGW

madmatt 03-19-2006 04:58 PM

LOL its worth it to me, as I miss third with the Steeda sometimes. Also, itd be worth the change, as I hear the MGW is smoother.

for $100? not really. Now, I don't know if there's a huge difference from the steeda and mgw, but I know I will never have any reason to switch to steeda. JOn, I know you had an aftermarket shifter(I think steeda) and switched to mgw, so why shouldn't he? Matt, if you can sell your for 100, by all means use another 100 and get the MGW

omg, the second thing I noticed(after seeing how crazy short the gears are) is that 2nd-to-3rd is insanely effortless

swervo 03-19-2006 05:08 PM

I love my MGW.

I've heard those are awesome as well. I don't see why you'd ever have a reason to switch to mgw, but everything I've read from people who went from steeda to mgw are happy and I havent actually heard of anyone going from mgw to anything else.

Ive got my stock shifter and I can still shift faster than probably most of you with aftermarket shifters. Haha im teh win! id like an mgw but i spend all my money all the time.

madmatt 03-19-2006 07:28 PM

Honestly, I dont have a problem with the triax, its just, the third gear thing pisses me off. If I try to powershift it into third, sometimes, it misses, and makes awful noises. It is spring loaded, if I shift it hard, I shouldnt miss 3rd.

yeah I thought those things were designed so you DON'T miss 3rd?? all I know is 3rd is a breeze for me now.

sounds like a synchro problem..i had the same thing and made ford rebuild my tranny....havent had that problem since

PureStang 03-19-2006 07:51 PM

im almost afraid of switching my short shifter....i think i striped the threads going into the transmission for 1 or 2 of the bolts when i put my hurst back in....i know 1 is for sure...cause when i try to tighten it...it gets tight and then loose again....is there a way to re-thread holes? (not trying to hijack btw)

Dang, I have no idea. BUt how did you strip them? Did you put the shifter in yourself? I did with a little assistance from a friend but it wasn't very hard

yeh... they can be rethreaded... ya need a heavy duty tap though...

PureStang 03-19-2006 08:08 PM

i didnt do it the first time i put it in....the guys i bought it from did..he said he didnt know y they wernt going in easy...then i took the hurst out to take my tranny for a check up cause it was acting up..i just recenly put it in and the bolt just went the bottom w/o turning it....

but maybe the shop guy took it out..cause there was gasket sealer on it when i took it off again..but i didnt put any on when i switched...so maybe the ford dude did it...idk...but i need to re-thread those freaking holes

Foster98GT 03-20-2006 04:02 AM

I Love my MGW every time i shift. Its one of the best Mods I've done. I installed it myself, it was as easy as it is shifting from 2nd to 3rd.
