Just saw somthing really cool

I just got back from the airport and watched Air Force One depart. Being an airplane fanatic and pilot, it was one of the most incredible things that I have ever seen. The President was in town for about 5 hours. I got stuck in traffic on the way to the airport as the motorcade went by. When I got to the airport the 747 was just a few hundred feet from me. I just think it was cool that I was that close to the President of the United States. What an experiance!

No matter if you like his politics or not, it is a really amazing experience seeing something like that or taking part in something like that. Here is a pic I got a little over two years ago. That is AF-1 in the background.

I got to see AF-1 every time the prez was in Denver. I was active on Buckley for a while doing the alert mission. I thought it was cool when they would bring in Marine 1 first and put it in the hanger till AF-1 got there.

In Jan 2001 we lost a little girl to cancer. We then stated a non-profit dedicated to helping kids with cancer called Home of Their Own. The org provides free housing to kids while they recover from treatment. (I know some of you have heard this before so I am sorry).

We were invited by the Pres due to our efforts with the organization. It was sort of an award type thing. We rode in the motorcade too.

Let's keep this thread to "non-political" and "non-war" discussions please. I think the thread starter is entitled to that. Those discussions just end up going noware. I will kill the thread if it gets away from us.

Sorry to hear about your little girl. Great to see you turn a horrable thing into something positive. Wish there were more people out there like you.

They were planning on using Marine 1 today but they couldent because there were 50 mph winds. I didnt even see it at the airport. It must have been in the cargo plane

I agree, regardless if you agree with whatever president is in office it's still amazing to see the motorcade and everything else that comes along with the office of the President. Back when I worked for a State Legislator and Clinton was in office he gave a speech in Oakland and I went to pick up some passes to see the speech I went to their staging area where the secret service was planning out all the security and it was amazing. They had maps of the entire City of Oakland and Bay Area and were talking about where to place the snipers. It was so freaking sweet. I also got to see some of the things they have in the back of those black suburbans! WOW, you could fight a small war with what those things carry.

A friend of mine's dad was a crew member on Air Force one,he just retired a couple years ago, he's got a picture of himself and Pres. Clinton with the plane in the background...

He's also scary as ****...lol I've never seen him smile...then again he's always pullin jokes on my friend...

When Bush was campaining for re-election, he came to the Pensacola Civic Center. My dad is a County Commissioner and he got VIP floor tickets for me and some friends. We were on the front row and after his speech he came down from the podium to greet those in front. His security came through and weeded out people so he didn't get bombarded. I got to shake his hand as he walked around. A month later he came to my college and I got to see his motorcade cruise by and see him waving inside. On another Bush note...my parents ate dinner with George Bush SR. and Barbara at Pensacola NAS a couple years ago. We also have the American Flag that was flown on the day and place that Bush was sworn in with signature authentication. It was given to my dad by Florida's State Representative at the time of Bush's first election.

The closest I ever came to a President was Hillary Clinton, she was at my representative's house in Rome, NY.... about three blocks up.

Thats as close as I ever got.
