Squeaking 1st & 2nd Acceleration

When I am in 1st or 2nd gear and coasting there is a noticeable squeaking coming..possibly from the rear of the car..? As far as I know it the car's rear end is stock. Also when I come to a stop and accelerate through 1st and 2nd the squeaking is there, and seems to get progressively louder as the speed increases. It seems like the squeak is getting more intense as time goes on to, so it needs attention...anyone have any ideas? cartalk?

Does it sound like its coming through the shifter area, or the rear end?

You might want to attempt to put in some 75w90 gear oil. That might quiet down your squeaking.

i have the same problem in my 04 gt. only when i take off it makes a noise from the rear end. my car is stock besides x pipe and magnaflow cat back. it's definately not a squeak coming from the exaust. sounds more like stepping on an old wood floor in a house squeak.

it's been doing it for at least 5000 miles, i told ford about it when i got my air conditioner fixed but they didn't do anything about it. my car only has 9500 miles on it...:wallbash:

Jack your cars up, disconnect the cat back, check all the control arm bolts. make sure they're good and tight. You can get that kind of noise by rocking back and forth on the crappy stock rubber bushings if they dry out. Areas with salt on the roads in the winter dry the hell out of bushings fast. Cold temps make it worse since the rubber hardens and doesn't damnpen as well. Try squirting a little wd40 at them. If it lessens or goes away, you have your answer.

BTW... all that should take you about an hour. If it takes longer you need to buy the right tools.
