problem with the hood?

i popped the hood for the first time today and idk but for some reason it just wont latch shut idk wat its problem is and i tried playin around with it but i got no results. has anyone had a problem like this or at least heard of sumthin like this?

Yeah, you've got to drop it from about 10 inches up for it to latch. It's painful to listen to, but it's the only way.

wow looks my my stang isnt the only one that is a bitch to latch...gotta drop it pretty good to get it to shut right.

I cringe every time I close the hood...

MattJ 01-30-2006 07:34 PM

Mine latches like shiit too. I thought it was just me...

PureStang 01-30-2006 07:36 PM

yup...me too....they have it so it barely opens

Personally, the mustang hoods SUCK. Does anyone know of a latch or something that was made for us to help with the ease of closing the hood?

Milos 01-30-2006 10:09 PM

Wow. It may sound funny but I'm at ease to know that they're all like that. Everytime I drop the hood I just wait for the fiberglass front end to fall with it.

I have the same issue I enlarged the holes so I could move the latch closer to the hood. http://mysite.verizon.net/txsnakecharmer/2kr.htm

i have the same problem but i figure drop it from up high and if something breaks its a perfect excuse to upgrade to a better hood or w/e.

G PURE 260 STANG T 01-31-2006 11:24 AM

oh wow thanks that really sucks i tried droppin it like a normal hood but it just sounded like **** and would shut i didnt think to drop it from higher up i didnt want to

on the latch portion, loosen the holding bolts and pull the hole latching system mech. up. re-tighten and you should be good to go

Lances03SVT 01-31-2006 02:55 PM

Do what I did.Remove the hood latch and install hood pin's :)

G PURE 260 STANG T 01-31-2006 03:35 PM

yeah ya know i was actually thinking about doin that cause i realy like the way they look did you install them yourself and if so are they hard to install?

You're talking about the part that's on the front bumper/enigne area itself, correct? Not the hood part?

Lances03SVT 01-31-2006 04:34 PM

No way did I do it.Cutting into a $700 dollar hood is not my idea of fun.

I find it shuts better if you kinda move the locking mechanism around before shutting it...kinda set the hood on it without latching and then move it up and down a bit...then it should shut a lil easier

Boon44 02-02-2006 05:38 AM

That kinda sounds too close to foreplay.....:shifty:

Im waiting for my headlights to explode when I drop it someday......

Huffed5.0 02-03-2006 11:32 AM

Put some oil on the latch mechanism on the core support trust me it works...My sisters 98, my 01, and her current GT all have had this problem put a little oil on it never ran into it again.....:punk: try it out you dont need a lot just a dab or so....
